Guidry Fired Yet?

I haven’t been fully bought in on Dawson. Sorry!

Last year he was mediocre as TVD did him no favors or was it Mario meddling.

This year, he had Cam and it would be foolish for anyone to think that is who Dawson is as an OC.

Let’s see how it goes this upcoming season.
Idk how anyone can say Dawson was mediocre in 2023.

You do realize he took over the worst offense in UM history right? He legit had the biggest turn around among ANY team in CFB from 2022 to 2023 on offense.

He was a top 15 OC in 2023, he was a top 3 OC in 2024.

Even Josh Pate was saying Miami fans should be refreshing every hour on Sunday to get news on their DC getting fired, and he doesn't like to talk about guys getting fired. Guidry was the equivalent of Gattis on offense this year. Don't care how much of a drop off in talent it was from Kam to the other safeties. To have guys turning their back on the play and scrambling around every time someone went in motion is not something you can forget.
Going into year 4 and no one is asking to be Oregon

We are just asking to be Syracuse or SMU

as bad as TVD was he had 3 wr's over 500 yards.
Everyone glazed Lashlee in 2020 during his first season, yet Dawson gets called mediocre… I don’t get it.

YPG: 367.4
YPP: 5.7
2020 (Lashlee year 1)
PPG: 34.0 - 8.3 point improvement
YPG: 440.3 - 72.9 yard improvement
YPP: 6.1 - 0.4 yard improvement

2022 - Year before Dawson
PPG: 23.6
YPG: 366.9
YPP: 5.3
2023 (Dawson year 1)
PPG: 31.5 - 7.9 point improvement
YPG: 431.2 - 64.3 yard improvement
YPP: 6.4 - 1.1(!!) yard improvement

We have more balance now. We don’t run well under lashlee but in fairness Mario specialty is OL.

Measurables meaning Jadais Richard, Dyoni Hill, etc. being 6’2 but can’t play corner.
Biggest psyop is all y'all pretending like y'all didn't like us taking Dyoni hill in the portal lol. Also saying Jadais is a "measurables" take when no one agrees he has the athleticism to truly be a CB is funny. Measurables is more than height lol

Miami went from a top 25 offense in 2021 to a garbage offense in 2022 under Gattass. Anyone with a lick of common sense asked why Cristobal ignored what worked under Diaz (top 25 offense in consecutive years) back to his ****ty bro style. TVD was moderately effective in a system that didnt ask him to read defenses. The OC schemed it up for him. And to no one’s surprise, the change in offense back to caveman football was a disaster.

I don’t think Dawson was some kind of miracle worker. TVD was a better fit in his Air raid offense than Cristobal’s preferred molasses style. It’s a misleading “improvement” - yeah UMs offensive numbers jumped up a lot but that was because Cristobal had made a horrendous choice with his first OC.

I think Dawson is an above average OC but I didnt see a lot of creativity and he had some head scratching decisions. In both the GT and Iowa State game, UM was annihilating the DL in the run game. Yet Dawson kept going away from that and calling for passes. In the GT game it was clear that Ward was having an off night. Not a big deal, happens to almost every qb at least once. But instead of going to the run game and taking pressure off Ward, he kept calling for pass after pass. Martinez was averaging 5.4 yards per carry in the GT game. I think UM could have established the LOS and just methodically moved down the field using up the clock. Instead we kept getting 3 and outs and asking the defense to bail out of the offense.

He was far worse than mediocre last year.

He benefitted from a remade OL: 2 high level transfers, a healthy Rivers, an all-world freshman. All decent coordinators would have fielded an effective offense with that OL.

And when things started to go south, he had no answers. We had an AA caliber player in Brashard Smith and couldn't find ways to get him the ball.
