The key is doing it as a surprise to fool the QB. Not **** near every 3rd down like Guidry does lol
I know it’s never gonna happen but would love to get Jason Taylor’s take on the dumpster fire that was Guidry’s D. And specifically the use and frequency of DE’s in pass coverage.I'm not opposed to a concept. It's a legit strategy and play call. Guidry is just a terrible play caller and teacher.
Defensive ends doing that so much as the base defense was ridiculous. Generally with what he wants the defensive line to do is terrible.
Also what's the point in us having two defensive line coaches if the defensive line is going to be trash...
You can drop back a DE or DT to take up space in a zone near the line of scrimmage to confuse the QB. You DON'T send your DE to cover a RB or WR out into the flats and expect them to keep up with the offensive player, which Guidry did on multiple occasions355lb Michael Pierce was dropped back into zone coverage for the Ravens and got an INT. Dropping back DEs every now and then was not an issue. Guidry just sucked
