Guidry dropping back DE's

I'm not opposed to a concept. It's a legit strategy and play call. Guidry is just a terrible play caller and teacher.

Defensive ends doing that so much as the base defense was ridiculous. Generally with what he wants the defensive line to do is terrible.

Also what's the point in us having two defensive line coaches if the defensive line is going to be trash...

I know it’s never gonna happen but would love to get Jason Taylor’s take on the dumpster fire that was Guidry’s D. And specifically the use and frequency of DE’s in pass coverage.

355lb Michael Pierce was dropped back into zone coverage for the Ravens and got an INT. Dropping back DEs every now and then was not an issue. Guidry just sucked
You can drop back a DE or DT to take up space in a zone near the line of scrimmage to confuse the QB. You DON'T send your DE to cover a RB or WR out into the flats and expect them to keep up with the offensive player, which Guidry did on multiple occasions

Every team does it but Guidry seemed to fall in love with it too much. Let your best pass rushers rush the friggin passer on 3rd and long. The biggest problem was running the sand twists and stunts every play. It became predictable and easy to block/opened up some big run plays.
