Sorry you had that experience…definitely don’t expect “southern hospitality” in Atlanta or the suburbs, but Tech fans aren’t usually aggressive. In general, Bobby Dodd stadium is pretty family-friendly.

I will agree that Tech students were more obnoxious than usual today…but this was Homecoming weekend. If you walked by the frat houses, they had lots of anti-Canes themed homecoming floats. Staying at the GT hotel as a rival fan on this weekend is probably why you got the comments you did.
