Gotta switch back to a 4-3 now that Wyche is gone

DE McCord- AQM - Hoilett - Jackson

DT Kamalu - Huertelou - Hamilton - Jenkins

DT Pierre - Moore - Moten - King - Grimble

DE Chickillo - Thomas - Harris - Perry

Sorry man, but in a 4-3. Chick isn't playing no DE in front of McCord/AQM

DE AQM - Harris - Hoilett - Jackson

DT Chickillo - Huertelou - Hamilton - Jenkins

DT Pierre - Kamalu -Moore - Moten - King

DE McCord - Thomas - Harris - Perry

I agree with Ridle, either one of those would get washed out in the run game on the edges. I think our personnel at this point scream 3-4, but a 1-gap 3-4. It would look something like this:

DE Chickillo, Hamilton, Muhammed, Jackson

DT Pierre, Huertelou, Moore, King, Jenkins

DE Kamalu, Perry, Moten, Thomas

OLB Figueroa, Armbrister, Smith

ILB Perryman, Grace, Young

ILB Kirby, Blue, Mccray, Owens

OLB Mccord, Hoilett, Harris,

The reason I say 1-gap is more about size than anything else. The only 2-gap bodies I see are Huertelou @Dt , Pierre@Dt(if he adds another 20lbs but could stay the same if he plays De) Kamalu@De, maybe Hamilton@De. We just don't have quality depth to 2-gap. That's why getting Whyche and Valentine were so important, for quality depth more than anything else (starting all-stars maybe later).

Honestly, our players all seem better suited for a 4-3 IMO minus a couple players in Hamilton and Kamalu.

SDE-Chick (once he loses 10-15 pounds), Thomas (once he grows into his body), Kamalu (more of a 3-4 DE, but would work at SDE in a 4-3), Perry (uselss, but has good size), Hamilton (currently a tweener at 285)

NT-We really don't have any players who'd make a good 0 tech in a 3-4 or a good 1 tech in a 4-3 other than Wyche. Moore would suffice I guess. Jenkins will grow into a nose in a couple years, but not right now. King I guess since he's apparently strong, but somehow still gets steamrolled.

DT-We have more than 1 player that's suited for a 3 technique. Pierre, Heurtelou, Moten (once he grows into his body).

WDE-We have plenty guys who'd make a good WDE in a 4-3. McCord (hopefully he gains 10-15 more pounds of good weight), AQM (ditto), D. Jackson (should be good after a redshirt), Hoilett (does he still exist?), Trent Harris (probably better as 3-4 OLB), Mike Smith (ditto about OLB)

I look at our personnel and it's obvious that despite of 3 years recruiting for this system, we really don't have the players or depth to run it effectively. Especially at nose tackle, which is the most important player in the 3-4. None of our DTs besides Wyche would make a respectable NT.
