Gotta switch back to a 4-3 now that Wyche is gone

LOL! Yeah, in year four, Golden abandons his failed scheme and adapts to the personnel he has. I can see that.

Sorry man, but in a 4-3. Chick isn't playing no DE in front of McCord/AQM

It's unthinkable that our coaches won't give the 4-3 a chance when our personnel in 3-4 suck *** while, at the same dime time, they have the potential to be sick in the 4-3. We finally have the horses (just need to develop them a bit) to have a very, very solid 4-3 look.

No way we play a 4-3.

Didn't you get the memo from the racists in Baton Rouge? We wanted Valentine to gain 80 lbs to play an inflexible nose at 395.

I actually like that D-line. I'd wanna see someone pushing Pierre for PT, but overall I like a lot better than last year's. The personnel will be much improved this year, if the results are similar it will definitely be time for these guys to go. I'd rather them succeed so we can have some **** consistency with the coaching staff, but this year will be make or break.

You don't play Div 1 football in a 3-4 with Moore & King as your NGs. I'd love to know WTF we're going to do next year, 4-3 seems only option. Our DT recruiting has, IMO, far surpassed the run Shannon had at WRs on the "you'd have to try hard to f-up this badly" chart.

I'd make a joke about throwing a punter over to DT during spring practice, but we don't have a punter on scholarship at the moment.

what about a 52 defensive front? And really throw the pressure on our CB and just clog the middle of the field up? That is what I was thinking.... Or is that a variation of the 3-4 that would not really work? I was just thinking something like.

pierre, chick, and kamalu in the 3 middle positions with aqm mccord on the old spots but right on the line and then you would have dp and figs to free flow to the ball..... I think it would be interesting, and might just be the type of front to really slow down the read option stuff.

I am no DC just thinking outside the box here. I think the days of just running a basic, 3-4 or 4-3 and read and react are done. You need to adapt to what the offense has out there, with the proper personnel. But at the end of the day we need to play tougher and tackle better. In the past two seasons, we started out both with a lot of strong tackling and knocking down passes with good fundamental football and by the end of the season we have crap tackling and guys running right at the qb and never putting their arms up... That to me is what I want to see change...

Somehow, someway I have to believe that something positive will come out of this. Moore can be good at attacking from the dt spot. We gotta stop this "hold the line" b.s.

Whatever alignment we use they will still two gap it. Hence the problem and hence we havent gotten in the backfield much since they have been here. Its hopeless. They will be fired after getting annihilated by FSU in sunlife

To run a 34 in college, you need to have the crème de la crème of the down linemen and the pickins are slim on those types of players. In the South, you're fighting Georgia, Florida State, and Alabama for those players. On the West coast, you're fighting with Oregon, UCLA and Stanford. Nationally, you're fighting Notre Dame. All for the tiniest segment of college football players possible. Nevermind seeing some of those players go to other SEC schools because they'll fit'em in anyway or going to other top tier or local schools.

Look at the NFL draft every year...there are maybe 10 guys every year that are NFL quality 34 specific players. They are the rarest of talents - players that are scheme fits for this defense. You can't try running it in CFB without the top guys if you're a top end school like Miami.

Nevermind that the South Florida talent base is filled with players that have never come close to playing gap control in high school, you're just trying to put a square peg in a round hole to begin with, so to recruit this defense, you need to recruit nationally, and while Miami is a great brand, you are so low in the pecking order for these national kids, I don't understand why you'd waste time and resources.

A great coach would understand this dynamic and how the demand exceeds the supply exponentially and alter what he does while still "getting his **** in" with the talent he has available to him, but we don't have great coaches, so all of this is for nothing.

That DL would get absolutely steamrolled in the run game. That's a good look for passing downs, but in the run game we'd be getting smoked.

Golden won't abandon the 3-4. Even if he does, golden is a passive guy he will run the 4-3 as passively as he does the 4-3
