I'm not gonna read all that. I'll just guess that it says our defense is bad, and Al can't beat anyone with a pulse.

Believe me... creating this was not easy. Just wanted to do my part and help inform some fellow CANES

I hope to one day not have a job, family, friends, hobbies, etc., to be able to do something like that. Thanks for the time you put in.

I worked over 50 hours this week, have a family, went out twice this week ( thanksgiving eve, and last night). I created this over the course of the season.

I dont want to hear another word on "we dont have the talent"! Al Golden is great ambassador of UM and solid recruiter, but he severely lacks as a coach. There is nothing that could lead you to believe this guy is "the guy"! He has had awful defenses almost every year in his career. The numbers do not lie folks. Either he realizes his defense does not work and goes in a different direction by hiring a competent DC or AG will eventually fail here. I hope to god something is done because UM deserves better then this dumpsterfire of a defense.

Really? That's not at all what I take from your numbers. He improved Virginia's defense from 98th ranked in 2000 to 18th ranked in 2005. He improved Temple's defense from 115th ranked his first year to 16th ranked his final year.

That's not a bad track record.

Temple went to 16th. They played in the MAC. There are High School teams in FL and TX that could beat most MAC teams. He also had the most young men drafted off his later Temple teams yet couldn't win the MAC?

You want to praise Al's defense at UVA, that's fine. Why did he get to 18th on his next to last year then back down to the 60th ranked D...where he normally had his Defenses at UVA?

Before you go bashing me, I wanted to Al to come down here and be our coach. What he did at Temple look amazing (and being from PA, I know how bad Temple really is), but after looking at the teams he played and what they did against said teams, I was a little worried. A lot of my family and friends were breathing a sign of relief after they won that game (That's how bad that Penn State team was).

I like that Al wants to make sure his OC and DC has a game plan and is involved (hopefully not overly involved). I just think that sometimes, you have to make a decision that you aren't going to like, people will get their feelings hurt, but it is for the best. Seriously, he needs to change his defensive scheme and use the talent that he has. I didn't expect perfection, but I do expect to be competitive and not be the laughing stock of the ACC, much less the entire nation.

I disagree completely. If you changed the DC (someone qualified not just anyone) before this season, I think we're getting ready to play FSU. I think it wouldn't take too long to bring in a new DC and have success. Not 2 full years either. It may take a few games but the right guy has enough to work with NOW to win the Coastal.

If this defenders of 2014 signing class all make it in, we have more then enough talet to outright win the coastal. Hiring a new DC is imperative after the bowl game. Give the kids all spring and summer to learn the defense. By week 5 they could be rolling .. Especially if we have a competent DC.

To add to your point on recruiting. This isn't some new development going on. Kids have been turned off by what we currently run. Kids want to attack and ball out and eventually make it to the pros. We haven't had 1 defensive player drafted high in forever. Kid are not stupid and see the bull**** we trot out on the field every Saturday. One more season of Mark Donofrio as DC will be very detrental to our program. As if this guy wasn't detrimental enough...(sigh).The guy has already re-wrote the putrid section of our record books!

UM deserves better.. The players deserve better... The Alumni and fans deserve better. This poris defense has left a nasty taste in all of our mouths for 3 full season. It is because of this defense we are not rematched vs FSU.

The "defensive issues" needs to fall on someone... And that is Mark Donofrio as well as Franklin, Barrow, and Williams.

Okay, but look at the kids we have coming in on defense now. For some reason they are staying committed even with the defense we have. It's funny because I am not worried about recruiting under this coach and scheme, I am worried about results and the amount of points we allow.

Too keep it very simple, here is what happened:

1. The NCAA cloud has lifted (finally),

2. The defense has not improved much over 3 years, and

3. We have the best recruiting class under Al in 2014

Recruiting doesn't seem to be an issue now, coaching is an issue. I get that the defense sucks, but....kids seem to be coming in and excited to play for Al and Co. I am just saying that even with Coach D we will still bring in a ton of talent, he just makes it harder because he is terrible. Coaches will continually to negatively recruit against us on our lack of defensive results and schemes/ lack of coaching. Losing a guy "hear and there" is devastating. We need impact DL & LBs in the worst way. So when FSU and UF comes in a grab the "few" that are at our disposal, it's going to get extremely difficult. The margin for error is ridiculously small for UM! Negative recruiting, on the field production, and type of defense (2-gap) we run is the constant battle we face when recruiting high impact front 7 prospects. Eventually we will not be able to sell prospects on past glory and current hopes/dreams. Kids want to see results!

I hear what you are saying but the front 7 we have coming in this year is the best we have had in some time and are beast (on paper). With the NCAA and the terrible defense we have fielded, I have no doubt that coaches are negative recruiting.

IMO, kids don't see what is actually going on. IMO, for the most part kids see what they are told (by their parents, coaches etc.) and that is not necessarily true. Kids are easily manipulated and lied too.

I don't doubt it though if we continue to run this crap defense it will effect recruiting but for the most part there is no indication this has taken place already. In fact, it only got better this year and we're 3 years into this defense.
