Al Golden's Career Defenses: UVA, TEMPLE, and UM. I just added the RS portion for comparison (I HATE RANDY..so im not taking sides here)

Side notes: In 2013, to be in the TOP 25 stat category rankings... UM would have to average 133ypg rush defense, 210ypg pass defense, and 352ypg total defense.

In ACC play we have only held a team under 100 yards rushing only 4 times; (2011- FSU, 2012- BC, VA, 2013- WF)! We allowed 184 rushing yards per game in ACC play over 3 years! We have only held 5 teams to under 133 rushing yards in 24 ACC games! He have only held 8 teams out of 24 under 210 passing yards over the last 3 years of ACC play; (2011- GT, DU, FSU, BC, 2012- GT, VT, 2013- GT, DU)!!! We have only held 4 teams to under 352 total yards in 3 years of ACC play; (2011- GT, DU, FSU, BC,) !!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Hopefully the next guy brought in is fully competent and does not embarrass our brand anymore! Pease was just canned and he was there for 2 years! We have seen the worst defense for 3 straight years. This defense is the worst, most god awful unit I have ever witnessed on any level of sports. Change is desperately needed!

I'm not gonna read all that. I'll just guess that it says our defense is bad, and Al can't beat anyone with a pulse.

Great stuff by OP. The numbers are mind numbing as to how bad this defense has been under golden.

Now that the cat is out of the bag let's see what golden does.

I dont want to hear another word on "we dont have the talent"! Al Golden is great ambassador of UM and solid recruiter, but he severely lacks as a coach. There is nothing that could lead you to believe this guy is "the guy"! He has had awful defenses almost every year in his career. The numbers do not lie folks. Either he realizes his defense does not work and goes in a different direction by hiring a competent DC or AG will eventually fail here. I hope to god something is done because UM deserves better then this dumpsterfire of a defense.

Believe me... creating this was not easy. Just wanted to do my part and help inform some fellow CANES

Hey that's a heck of a breakdown. Good work.

So basically we're better than last year, but we still suck. In other words, there's about 80 or so teams with better defenses than we have.

I hope to one day not have a job, family, friends, hobbies, etc., to be able to do something like that. Thanks for the time you put in.

Really? That's not at all what I take from your numbers. He improved Virginia's defense from 98th ranked in 2000 to 18th ranked in 2005. He improved Temple's defense from 115th ranked his first year to 16th ranked his final year.

That's not a bad track record.

I worked over 50 hours this week, have a family, went out twice this week ( thanksgiving eve, and last night). I created this over the course of the season.

That's why I said thanks for putting the time in. Not sure where the defensiveness is coming from.

LOL at everyone telling him to get a life. Never understood how you could fault anyone when they are doing something they are passionate about.

Very good life lesson I learned when I was younger. If you want something done, ask a busy person.

Good post and solid data AND analysis from the OP....

Evaluating defense from a numbers standpoint is very tough IMO, a lot of variables and factors. But there really is no defense to what is presented above.

Thx for putting it together. We're all a little short with each other...since our D blows and all. :)
