Whats crazy is that for years now, UM fans did not consider Va Tech to be a big rivalry game. We as fans down play it to the FSU game. Structurally speaking, Va Tech is way more important for the success of the season.
Whats really crazy is that this year, as soon as we beat Va Tech this Saturday night, the Dook game will become the single most important game of the year, for Dook has the head to head over Va Tech and will be tied with UM for the coastal. Crazy.
FSU and Miami should be in the same division. It's BS that we pretty much have to beat them twice in the same season in order to get to the title game. Does Alabama have to beat LSU twice?
****ing ACC
When we first joined the ACC FSU and UM were dominantly better than every other school in the conference. ACC management envisioned a rematch occurring every year, which is why they moved our regular season game to opening weekend for a handful of years. This is the first time we MIGHT meet in the ACC title game after a decade.
Not saying I agree with the structure, just saying I understand the initial thinking. They put the "natural rival" in the other division.
Each conference is doing different things. Look at the PAC 12, they're basically becoming an introverted conference. they will go to a 10 game conference schedule in like 2016, leaving only two OOC games per team. They are trying to keep all of their football revenue in-house. Financially it makes sense but I think it hurts the sport on the whole, which is my concern. It seems that no one is watching out for the good of college football these days.
What needs to happen is we need a north and south division in the ACC.
North: Miami, FSU, Clemson, GA Tech, NC State, North Carolina, Duke
South: Notre Dame, BC, Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake, Pitt
