Golden Wants A Disruptive D-line

If anything, this thread only sheds light on coach D's ineptitude. We don't have the horses up front...WE KNOW WE DONT HAVE THE HORSES UP FRONT...and yet we continue to drop our linebackers into coverage on every 3rd and long as if we do have the horses up front.

Adapt to your personnel a little bit Dorito.

The foundation of our team next year will all be 3rd year guys that Golden brought in.

Duke, Tracy, Deon, Jenkins, McCord, Gunter, Kirby, Flowers, Herb along with some seniors like Chick, Pierre, Dorsett, Scott. Sprinkle in a couple sophomores like Coley, Burns and AQM and I see a good looking roster.

Why do we have to wait two more years again? Because Golden, D'ohno and Jethro have failed to bring in playmakers along the DL. They don't get a pass from me because they can't close on elite DL.

Miami made DT the dominate position in college football and now everyone chases them, if for no other reason than to follow Bobby's advise as to how to beat Miami. Golden has done well on DE/OLB recruiting but the good DTs have gotten away. This year looks much better and with NCAA gone we have improved chance there. Remember DT has the fewest numbers of quality HS players and the biggest competion for them. It makes sense it would be the position it took longest to shore up. It is not like Golden is stupid and did not realize how important it is.

Our Dline is vastly better than last year. Is it elite, **** no. But this team was 3 or 4 plays away from scary the living crap out of FSU and having chance to win in the end. I am severly depressed over losing that game, but I have knowingly been drinking the Kool Aid since the gator win. I have completely enjoy this season to date as a result--all the way up to failing on the first drive of the 2nd half of game 7. Beats the crap out of anything we have had in 10 years. I wanted coach D gone half-way through the first season, but not any more. This is Al Golden's defense. I have come to realize we hit gold with Al. Man is Howard and JJ combined. If this was his 3rd year without the NCAA infected recruiting, FSU would be crying this week. We are not there yet, but it is easy to see the train is rolling faster and faster. Remember, that star ladened FSU team is a result of years of artifically enhanced recruiting classes and they were scared and disorganized at the end of the first half. We did not have the depth to drive home the stake in the 2nd half and they recovered. What were we missing? one more top rb, maybe a high end qb backup for a one leg starter, a beast at NT, 2 more high end pass rushers, another year expierence for one **** of a freshman WR. What else? Next year, we have Williams, Olsen, Kaaya, I am beating Al has at least 2 ready to start. DT, Gus, Yearby and Powell, with a recovery Duke. Valentine, Chad and a host of more Dline help. Couple more beast LBs, 2nd year Coley(him and Hearns owned FSU's secondary), our injuried WRs back, plus some tall and fast recruits coming our way. This is FSU's last chance gentlemen. The 2014 class will make us better than them and Golden will do to them what we always have. ****, maybe we get the chance to ruin their dreams in the title game.

Notice to all the retards who thought The Don has been playing on an even field in recruiting the last couple years with that ncaa cloud hanging over the program: It's time to take the thumb that's in your mouth and the one that's in your *** and switch.

I know you guys are all about holding everyone but yourselves to impossible standards, but the recruiting game just got fair a couple weeks ago when the ruling came down. Start your whining clock now, fa.ggots!

If you have soap horses you don't beat the guys with a stable full of Kentucky Derby winners. That's football.

Note II to retards: Look for improvement, and quit being *****. So far, 7-1 and top 20 is an improvement. Now, return to drooling and booger eating.

This I can understand. I can understand that DT is the hardest position to recruit because elite ones are so few and far between. Also being naturally bigger doesn't necessarily make them better players and that makes them harder to scout. Once they get to college they're not bigger than everyone else anymore and the playing field is level. So it makes sense that it's the most highly competitive position to recruit.

Thank you for bringing up an intelligent argument instead of being a condescending ******* like the poster below you.

LOL at everyone thinking Porter was Sapp on here the way they talked about him I thought dude was Suh. Never seen elite play from him IMO. Valentine,COry Johnson, and Wyche are those type of instant impact guys. Valentine is a year away though

Why do we have to wait 2 more years? Because we have 75 scholarship players right now, a self imposed 10 scholly reduction. Because we've recruited since Al got here under the cloud of the ncaa investigation. I guarantee you we've missed out on countless elite players that we could have landed had that not been the case. I don't think people understand how damaging this has been. Al still whiffed at DT by not bringing in bodies, but the stockpiling of elite talent begins NOW, not 2 or 3 years ago.

Most schools don't have 85 kids on scholarships and Fsu has the same amount of kids on scholarship that we do.

This is the biggest crock of **** thread in some time.

Posted this in another thread, and it's relevant here:

FSU Dline two-deep

DE - Eddie Goldman, 5 star; Demonte McAllister, 4 star senior
DT - Nile Lawrence-Stample, 3 star; Desmond Hollin, 3-star JUCO
NG - Jernigan, 5 star; Jacobbi McDaniel, 5 star senior, #1 DT recruit in 2009
DE - Mario Edwards, 5 star, #1 DE in 2012; Chris Casher, 5 star

That doesn't even include all of the 5 and 4 star talent at LB and DB. I am not a huge believer in the star system, but at some point, when you have that many highly rated players in the two deep, it's going to pay off.

Serious question...who do we have that would even see the field on that defense? Do you think that Coach D's scheme would work any better with that lineup versus what we're putting out there?

If Coach D had that talent Miami would win every **** game. No opponent would come close to the endzone. **** look at what he's doing right now with the depth nightmare we currently have.

Most of the Coach D haters were Radio Charmin cack slobbers. If Coach D were black they'd be riding his nuts until they busted all over their faces. Wildcatdefense is a porster who coaches HS ball. He hates the defense "Coach D" so much he claims the hybrid 3-4 defense can't be run with South FL talent. Think about for a second. He is basically saying South FL talent is to stupid to pick up the complex schemes or he has such an agenda he could care less what's in the best interest of the players down here to learn NFL concepts. He basically wants them stuck on stupid like they were when they left under Randy.

That's the mentality we're talking about with some of these so called fans who ***** and moan about coach D.

Yeah, that's not true at all. There are like 3 or 4 posters who everyone knows will defend Shannon no matter what. What about the rest of the posters voicing their opinions?

And thank you for taking Wildcat's opinion and applying that to everyone who doesn't agree with this bend but don't break defense.

well we've sure as **** got a good dline class this year with Thomas, Valentine, Harris, Jackson, Wyche, and probably Moten

the previous dline classes are in the past now, but going forward we have a stream of talent coming in so I don't see what exactly people are *****ing about

This is the biggest crock of **** thread in some time.

Not really, the biggest crock of **** thread in some time is the one where some dude seriously tries to say that coach D'Onofrio coaches our kids to drop back and stare at the quarterback rather than pick up receivers in zone.

Like any coach in america would do that.

I swear half of you guys are mental midgets.

So our LB's dont stare at the QB?

And instead of talking **** why don't you bring your *** into THAT thread and debunk the theory?

Fair enough. The bigger point is that we've been recruiting with one arm tied behind our back. FSU has 77 scholarship players and it's easier for them to pull that off because they're loaded with 4 and 5 star recruits that they've been stockpiling for years. We don't have that. And we won't have that for a couple more years.

I made this thread for the ones that said in the 3-4 the lineman are supposed to just eat up space. Every 3.4 is not the same. Bama, ravens, steelers want the big 300+ run stuffers. The U,cardinals,49ers,texans want guys who can play the run and rush the qb.

Like I said in another thread...got some horses in the middle coming in for next year. King and Moore don't seem to be cutting mustard so that's why Stuckey and Wyche are coming in. Those guys are critical to keep - Al has gone after JUCO DTs because he knows how much he's failed at signing HS ones AND he knows that DL is a weak spot on this team and needed to get better yesterday. I don't see why we can't expect this defense to be even better in 2014. I'm sick of the "20XX is our year" stuff.

Oh, so DL is the only position that was affected by the NCAA investigation?

We didn't seem to have this problem at other positions.

I think the staff would admit to you that they've failed in bringing in DTs.

LOL at every one who thought we were ok at DT with us bringing in burger king employees to fill a hole. Example Gilbert was a beast as soon as he put on a UM uniform but yea Wisconsin is gonna let him walk........8 games later and I dont know if the guy plays for us or at all. To all the Porter lovers I havent seen this beast u speak of.

U can win all these arguments now but it wont change nada and your theories can be debunked later.

King and Moore don't seem to be cutting mustard so that's why Stuckey and Wyche are coming in.

It may turn out that both King and Moore are just JAGs, but one or both could also turn out to be good players. The fact that we're bringing in Stuckey and Wyche may speak to the coaches wanting to hedge our depth given the recent misses at the DT spot in recruiting, more than it speaks to their lack of confidence in the development of King and Moore.

You're right; it can be either one. DT is a very difficult position to transition to from HS to college so it's not surprise they struggled as true freshmen. They needed to be red shirted (I'm pretty sure Moore has played, no?). We should start to get a good idea if they're any good this spring. If they can't crack the 2 deep after the spring, ....
