Golden Today

im kind of viewing Seantrell situation like a Winslow with the bucs situation(not saying to cut him just cant let this potential star walk all over you). In order for Golden to keep that respect with the players he has to set an example and not buckle. a flight up and back isn't an issue. its multiple days missed on more than one occasion. Immediate family a couple of days no problem but this isn't the case.

I understand he put in a lot of work in the off season and lost the weight he needed to. I really hope he has been on the level with golden and has kept him notified. From Goldens last presser i don't see him starting at BC for sure.
I don't care who starts, I want to see adjustments though. Typically, arrogance loses a game for a coach. If Flowers is getting owned, sit his *** and put in SH. I like AG as a coach and for the culture change, but if he doesn't win we are in the same boat.

dammit mane who is that chick??

He was INJURED IN A CAR ACCIDENT!!!!

Yeah I know, it's always something with Seantrel. Question, what was he doing driving on a suspended license? Let me guess, he had no idea his license was suspended? I never have these problems.

True Swords...but suspended license or not has nothing to do with injuries sustained in a car accident.

Again, I'm into trends and it has everything to do with it. He can't make practice because of these funerals and is so broke up but he can make it down to homestead on a suspended license when he gets back rather than to dive back into his playbook and get to work. It's all about priorities and Seantrel doesn't have his priorities in order. Notice how you don't hear anything about Flowers other than working hard and getting first team reps? See the difference?

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me what a Minnesotan is doing all the way down in Homestead, where there is nothing for anyone that doesn't live there.

I think I have a hunch why Seantrel was driving on a suspended down in Homestead. It's probably the same reason Storm and that whole crew were shown the door. Next we're probably going to hear how Seantrel is no longer on the team because he didn't pass his test. I'm not talking about no math test either. It's probably why he misses planes and takes 4 days to attend a 2 hour funeral.

Make no mistake guys--Seantrel will play. He'll be in the rotation with Ereck Flowers and Jermaine Johnson at RT early on, at worst. Two funerals in the past few weeks have knocked him out of practices, which is why this is even a question. He's not going to the Bahamas on vacation in the middle of Fall camp with both middle fingers extended at Golden while doing so--keep in mind that people lost their lives that Seantrel was close to. This isn't him going home to feed chicken soup to his grandma b/c she has a cold or some ****. It's not the exact same thing--but no one questioned how Golden handled Jo Jo Nicholas last year when his infant son died, did they?

Golden's a stand-up guy, and he understands the loss of family and friends like any coach who preaches "family" to recruits SHOULD. That's why he hasn't said stuff about Seantrel's status with the team being in jeopardy--because it shouldn't be for stuff like this.

Just chill out fellas--Seantrel's not going anywhere.

Difference is, there's been no report of who actually passed. The lack of information makes me a skeptic.

The fact that that makes you a skeptic means you are completely lacking in empathy and really basic human kindness. Some of this kids best friends just DIED, and that certainly deserves capitalization and however much time this kid needs to mentally recover.

Why would anyone involved in this say anything at all to the media? People would rather grieve and try to understand how their lives are now completely changed than talk to some uncaring media member so that some football fans can be appeased. Al Golden understands this, because he is a good human being who values life and death above football.

I'd lay good odds that Seantrel at the very least dresses out for BC. And I'd say he'll be in the rotation as I stated earlier in this thread.

I went back, to try to gauge Seantrel and see if I saw any of this lackadaisical attitude or a lack of caring about the team, and re-watched the interview he did after he came back from his friend's funeral last week.

I didn't see a bit of it at all. If nothing else--I saw a dude that's dealing with a lot on his mind, just came thru a car accident that could have been much worse than what it was, and the death of a close friend. Seantrel is what, 20 years old? Some guys grow up dealing with loss, so they're ready for it when it comes. Some guys don't--and when confronted with it as a young man, it fvcks with your head a little bit. You start to question a lot of things in life and have your own emotional struggles. Honestly--he looked like he was hurting. Losing his aunt couldn't help shortly after that.

But you know what? In that interview, he kept talking about getting back and helping the team like he wants to do, and being there for his teammates like they've been there for him. He talks about doing extra work to get back in the groove, extra weight room time, extra film work, all of that. But yeah--you're all 100% correct. Those are all indicators of him not caring at all.

One thing that this thread has shown is that there is an absolute ton of you guys who are fans of the jersey and the helmet, but don't give a **** about the young men filling them. You ought to be facking ashamed. This dude is the one going thru this stuff, NOT you. He's the one that is wearing the jersey and helmet, NOT you. If Golden, his staff, and the other guys on the team don't have a problem with Seantrel--then I don't. If you do, then that's your problem, and you're just being petty and need to get in touch w/reality.

I can clear one thing up. Homestead is not 45 minutes south of Coral Gables. It's not in the Keys. Does kinda make you wonder. Maybe he just went for a ride to clear his head. IDK.

I trust Golden to do what is right for the team and the kid. So we'll see what happens.

I won't presume anything in regards to Seantrel, other then nobody here is dealing with the deaths and personal issues in his life, except him. I think its pretty disgusting to judge how people react to the loss of friends and loved ones; that should be left alone. Period.

All that said, Flowers is taking advantage of his oppurtunity, and I would not be surprised to see him hold the RT job down as a true freshman. Its a shame things do not appear to be working out with Henderson because he's such a talent, but its nice to have a kid like EF waiting in the wings, ready to pounce on his chance to play.

Our fans are so full of hate...bizarre.

I cannot wrap my head around it...

It isn't hate, it's called grounding yourself in reality. This program just spent 4 years waiting for a corch and an entire recruiting cycle to turn it around. Outside of Sean Spence nobody from the last four years has played up to UM expectations, coaches included.

It's time this program gets back to the mind set of having nothing handed to them. The ENTIRE COUNTRY HATES US. Nobody's gonna give these kids a ******* thing, so why should SMH have a different mindset? Regardless of circumstances if the kid doesn't practice he shouldn't be on the field. You think that German **** from FSU is gonna give Henderson a 2 second head start because his aunt and friend died? Get the **** outta here!

I think it's a bonus recruiting wise too. Denver Kirkland has to see that he will have a chance to come right in and play if he has his stuff together.

All very valid points, and if the young man didn't have a history of absence and discipline issues, most would give him the benefit of the doubt. However it is a trend with this young man to put football 3rd or even 4th in his life. Neither he nor anyone on this board should be surprised if he loses his spot to someone who puts it number 1.

I think I speak for the board in that we hope that he gets it together and immediately so, but the patience is wearing thin.

When are yall gonna wake up and realize Golden is just trying to breed toughness into these fools...Dude gets hurt he loses his spot..Dude doesnt practice he loses his spot... Golden knows this ish is about jimmy's and joe's... Put money seantrell is starting by 3rd or 4th game

I don't have much beef at all with that. If Jermaine Johnson or Ereck Flowers beats him out, so be it. We'll be a better team for it if that happens. If they're more focused/driven than Seantrel is right now, no matter how valid/invalid the reasons may be, then I'm alright with that. It's part of the game.

I think the difference being missed as far as trends in Seantrel's actions is this: I think all of the crap before was him being an idiot kid, and this stuff now is him being a young man who's run on a streak of bad luck and mourning the loss of loved ones. I can't be patient with the juvenile stuff--I feel you there. However, if he's got some heavy stuff going on that's messing with his head and emotions, I can respect that, and be patient with it.

I'm fine with Flowers/Johnson playing if Seantrel isn't ready or isn't focused--that's not the issue. The issue is, I think his lack of focus (if there is one) isn't because he's helping his pappy's rap career or he wants to blaze up instead...it's because of real world **** that would fvck with any of us when hit with it in a short time span like he's had to deal with.

Wanna ground yourself in reality? This kid's aunt and one of his childhood best friends just died within a two week period, then to top it off he was in a car accident and suffered a concussion. All of this after he was having, what Golden said was, his best UTough and spring training camp to date.

How about you switch from an "all I care about is Hurricane football" perspective to a slightly more human approach and realize the kid is dealing with a lot of crap. At the end of the day, the best player will play.
