Golden on the offensive line

Talked to Mongo a little bit today.

*Said Easley is the best DL this OL unit has ever played against.

*Said UF tried to come out in a base defense, got their asses kicked and then switched up to more of a slant/angling front. This is the reason for our early success. I noticed this on film as well. They started blitzing alot more and running alot more "movement" on the Defensive Line. This is where Miami's troubles started, specifically at Center.

Oh, and regarding the d!ckhead who said Miami's O-line was intimidated. He said there was jawing back and forth all game between the two units. Feliciano actually almost got in trouble with the refs for some antics at the end of the first half. It started after the last play of the half, when UF's D-line was standing in the way of Miami and talkin trash, Mongo walked right through the middle of their defense.

I think that's about it. We talked about a few specific plays, but nothing interesting enough to mention here.

I think the fact that UF switched up their scheme says something about the ability of our O-line. UF had to adjust cause in the beginning they were getting worked. The scheme that they switched to up-front is very difficult for ANY Offensive Line to play against. You imagine Easley lined-up in a 3-technique but after the ball is snapped he slants hard inside to the A-gap.

If this is so difficult why not start off like that, and what's to prevent other teams from doing the same thing. I imagine there have to be some drawbacks to the slant/angling front that we failed to exploit.

IF YOUR DUMBASS REWATCHED THE GAME you would notice Figueroa getting traded for cigarettes by the Gaytor DLinemen in the 4th qtr. He almost got Morris killed on a redzone play late in the 4th. And that was straight 1 on 1.

I want them to succeed as much as anyone but they were a liability that second half and not due to their lack of talent....

### Internally, one of the biggest disappointments Saturday was the offensive line play -– Seantrel Henderson especially struggled, according to a UM staffer -– despite the high-level talent. Brandon Linder was the best of the group, that UM person said. Mel Kiper said UM has at least three NFL linemen.

even um people say seantrel struggled in that game.

Kehoe does not like Seantrel, period. I don't think anyone who has watched came away thinking he got worked....Flowers had something like three consecutive holds one series, and McDermott...well, we know that went.

There are a ******* ton. Didn't you play LB in a slant-heavy defense?

Well they don't start like that because that's not their base defense. If you live and die off angling then it becomes predictable.

Other teams CAN do the same thing, but other teams aren't as talented up front as UF is. And as I said in other thread, other teams have done it against us and had success. (i.e. USF game that got Randy fired)

I watched the game 3 times. Difference is, I know enough about football to know what I'm looking at and break the film down. You, on the other hand...

so you watched that second half 3 times and came to the conclusion that our OL had its difficulties due to strictly changes in scheme?

3) BUT with all that said, I am starting to lean toward the fact that this Oline group could be a tad overrated. Kinda like our 2002 Dline. You know theres talent. You know these guys will be playing on Sundays. We just cant figure out why they cant be absolutely DOMINATE. Real Head scratcher. Maybe its scheme. But whatever it is, I hope its not the reason we dont win the ACC Coastal and get at least 10 wins this year. Because Vtech and FSU Dlines are gonna give us trouble as well.

Quite possibly true. If they were all draft eligible, do we have a 1st or 2nd round o-lineman on this unit? And before you mention Seantrel, he got a 4th round grade, IIRC, just a few months ago.

They better get it right by the FSU game. Their D-line could be as good or better the Fl..

Again, FSU's defense is doing something different than their usual slants and 1gap. Maybe they change for one game, but they don't have an Easley that'll make it look that seamless.

The (random) slanting is a real *****.

Like I said, imagine Easley lining up as a 3-technique and then slanting hard to A-gap. Then the next play you don't know if he's gonna do the same thing or just go ahead through B-gap.

Its a *****.

Not even close. We will handle fsu's DL.

Not saying you, but these same type of absolutes were mentioned prior to the UF game. All summer was told UF lost alot upfront to NFL and our guys would handle.

We proceed to get our head kicked in. Until proven on the field I will believe we will do good in pass pro but struggle to run against any Defense worth a dam. Have we ran on a good defense in 2 years??

I feel like people are really under rating FSU's DL. If there is one unit they have on their team that is crazy good, it's the DL.

Not to the homers on steroids on this board. Nope. Not worried.
