On Joe Rose yesterday (slightly paraphrased for continuity):

We gotta do a better job as a staff, starting with me. There are some things I observed, and I think we need to implement some changes to help them out. I talked with the offensive staff about ways of helping our offensive line out.

Wonder what that means. I haven't rewatched the game yet, so I haven't paid close attention to o-line play, and what their biggest issues were.

Maybe it has to do with some of the OL calls they make during a game. I am sure they know what call they make for the line and what works and what didn't. Maybe they are realizing we may need to chip with the backs, or keep a TE in for doubles at times. I am sure we will see improvement, as long as there is talent this staff has something to work with and improve with.

Or maybe screens and draws also changing up the snap count I didn't see any of that you gotta keep an aggressive line like UF's of balance

Maybe it starts with putting people in the best positions they are suited for instead of shuffling them around all the time. Of having guys pulling in the running game who actually can move and are faster than a sea tortoise humping. Maybe it also starts with looking at what kind of job Kehoe is doing with all this OL talent.

Miami OL held Florida's 4-man (or less) pass rush to affecting QB on just 15.8% of dropbacks. Would have been best of any team last year.

We can't run block that well, and we just aren't gonna straight up maul people in the run game. Also McDermott has problems with any above average DT.

And it's positive that they are acknowledging that there are things that need to change.

Can you guys imagine Randy tryig to share his thoughts with the offensive staff? LMAO.

Anyway, I had said this previously, but I think Golden will get this right . . . he knows what's wrong

Maybe it has to do with them being PUSSIES! They did well the first quarter then got intimidated for the rest of the game. They kept letting the DL talk **** and take cheap shots at Duke without any repercussions. The only player on offense i saw getting in the face of the DL and LBs was Duke. Our OL is suppose to fight those fights for him and protect him. I dont give a **** if we get penalized but we need to man up and start some **** when necessary.

Crazy but our greatly criticized DL played big boy football and our heralded OL played like lil *******

I agree with you.

But, did we really need to wait until after the UF game to think about this? It's not like our staff didn't know what we about to face.

FWIW, we didn't shuffle all that much this game from what I remember. I think Bunche got 2 series at LG, 1 in 1st half and 1 in 2nd half (was ineffective when he was in). Wheeler I think played some as well at C. Flowers, Linder, Henderson played the whole game from what I saw.

I'd like to see this stat on our dline. I've rewatched the game twice and on nearly every single pass play driskel was either on the ground, run into, or 1-2 steps from getting nailed when he released.

less of this zone and stretch running and more downhill power running

We have a smash mouth type OL.. If they need to move someone off the ball they can. (big boys) It seems like we struggle with zone/stretch blocking. Problem is we have a zone back & lack a power one.

Before anyone tells me how awful our short yardage run is believe me I know.. If you look though most the time we have guys pulling, etc. Fire off the ball & create a new LOS.

The thought that Duke can't be a downhill back has become a prevailing myth

I think it was just being too predictable. Even in early downs, in shotgun, UF was just blitzing the opposite side of where Duke was positioned because when given the hand off he would run straight into blitzing DB

Its the reason most running teams and even power teams like Bama really gravitated towards the pistol because with the back still behind the QB you dont tip off what direction the run is going like in shotgun. Majority of time if the back is to right of qb, that rb will be given handoff going left. We did it enough where UF would just slant their line and blitz a safety and we are basically running into teeth of defense.

The most head-scratching part of this whole thing is these guys are all veterans. The coaches are more than familiar with what they do best. Da **** is with all the indecisiveness at this point?

I think their perceived shortcoming was more an issue of Coley playcalling, though there were a few missed assignments. Henderson comes to mind on one
