I think Golden was starting to gain Confidence in Olsen. the first sign was when he put him in with the Starters in scrimmage and he didnt even know it. I like Olsen Mobile mobility. the fact that he didn't force the throw and ran it in made me happy. he is a fierce competitor. Olsen will be a stud this year for us. this summer will be pivotal in his development. Hopefully since his brother is a Tight End , he will understand the value of the position and know how to use them.
Unfortunately, Golden's confidence doesn't seem to have any impact on performance. He was confident in Harris and did not play Morris, who he was then confident in the next year. Next he was confident in Morris and did not play Williams, who he know was suddenly confident. I cannot wait to start a QB who Al is NOT confident in! Maybe we get 6 picks, or maybe we get a Heisman winner.
I am worried that Al has an axed to grind against real talent. He likes players like him -- limited talent who work really hard and by senior year finally make the travel squad. If just bothers the crap out of me that he could criticize Duke last year for fumbles he has one or two a year, while his defense gives up more 500 yard games in one year than Duke will have fumbles in his entire Miami career. It is okay to have problem with a guy who's talent makes him a diva, but Duke is about as perfect as they come. Al also mentioned Coley by name when the kid dropped a couple early. Another non-diva unbelievable talent. Al love Mike James--hard working overachiever. I love Mike too, but he did not have Miller, Strom, or Duke talent. So I take his negative comments about Olsen as a possible great sign. Maybe the kid is a real talent and Al is jealous of him too? I hope so.
