Golden on Joe Rose- 04/07/14

I can't stand to hear golden come out and say Williams was the clear cut starter. It's supposed to be a competition. Fsu didn't realese Winston was the qb until the last second of camp. Competition breeds success. I hate that bs loyalty **** golden is on. Even if Williams is clear cut starter don't go out on the radio and let everyone know

Certainly doesn't put extra confidence into what's essentially your own QB.

From an insider's perspective on fsu and their qb, by December of last year anyone remotely associated and inside the program knew it was Winston's team. As I stated before, my father in law is a big booster there and I knew then who was handed the ball and who was getting more first team reps, even with Coker also being a stud. That is an absolute fact - from the inside. Yet to the public/media it was jimbo's "hardest" decision. Coach speak.

It is a competition till someone stands out. Not that I agree with it but perhaps Williams stood out to Golden and Co.

I agree but if he did take the next step and others didn't why not just keep that in between the coaching staff why go on. Joe rose and say that. The heisman trophy winner last year was in a "supposedly tough qb battle" even though he was a treated as a god as soon as he stepped on campus. I don't know maybe I am thinking of it wrong I would just rather golden and the rest of the staff keep it amongst themselves

It is all coach speak, it doesn't really matter.

Olsen seemingly took last year off and coasted through football responsibilities.

Gets handed the job by an injury.

Coach sees fit not to applaud him.

Fan base makes prudent assessments of the moral wrongness of the statements, resumes thinking coach is an idiot.

Rinse.

Golden has to build up Olsen now, he was on the kids **** when he wasn't doing things the right way, now that he's likely the starter and made positive changes it's time to build his confidence.

He should've always been building up his confidence, one never knows when your main QB will go down in a heap.

Conversely, when your main QB goes down you don't want to start a newbie with just an a$$ full of sunshine. :p

I think the phrase "building up his confidence" is a weak argument. These are elite athletes who should have unwavering confidence in their ability, or else they shouldn't be in D1 ball. If you need a coach to instill confidence in you, or build you up, you've already lost.

Jerry Rice sawed off his own cast against doctors orders to get back to working out and then screwed up his patella from rushing back. I remember when AP was rushing back Rice himself was the biggest proponent of taking more time to rehab saying he regretted his own decision.

You don't think RW is rushing to get back? SMH

Sounds like he feels RW will be back to start the season.

He never said that and no one comes back from torn ACL in less than 5 months.

Bolded is one of the most ignorant and stupid borderline moronic posts I have ever seen. Go tell that to Jerry Rice who came back from complete ACL reconstruction in 3 1/2 months back in 1997.

I never quoted him. Just read between the lines.

Comparing Jerry Rice/Adrian Peterson athletically and body wise to RW is just not fair to the kid. What AP did will ruin ACL injuries for any star player for the next 10 years at least. That is just not normal what he was able to do and how fast he was able to recover. Look at Derrick Rose, who is a physical freak in his own right, buddy just hasnt been the same.

The timetable for ACL injuries is not 6 months for average human beings. (Which is what RW is. He is not a freak of nature like AP) I think Al doesnt want to discourage the young man since he has waited two years for this chance and Al knows how much the kid dreamed of being the starter for UM. And to crush his dream by coming out publicly and saying "his career is probably over" is not something Al would do this early. Although we all know that is probably the case.

You don't have to be superman to come back from an ACL injury in 4 months. WTF is so hard for people to understand about that?

It's 2014 ffs.

We get it, you want to marry Ryan but common sense here I doubt Ryan can be 100% til midseason.

It's got nothing to do with my evaluation of his talent. It has everything to do with how desperate he is to play every game he can next season. This literally is his last chance to play competitive football EVER.

Biggest thing to take away from that if you ask me is Kirby being the most consistent on defense. Need him to be good. Neeed need Need him to be good.

I'll go out on a limb and say with Olsen that at some point Kaaya takes his cookies. I don't know if its because of an injury or just beating him out, but something tells me that Kaaya is the man for the job. I know its just stories for the media and this or that, but something about the way his training was described, the way he came onto the scene crushing everybody last year, and the him and Coley connection, I think this is the guy that wins it. Another year to chase Olsen down and learn in the wings might have been nice, but if we have 2 guys who aren't quite ready, do you go with the one who might be a little readier, or do you go with the one you think will end up better?

Lol, you do when you are cranking up the ol' excuse machine. Why in the **** would you not put it out in the cosmos that Olsen is more than capable of leading this team? If for the sake of the team alone, why?
Gawd, I really dislike this puzzy *** corch of ours.

Women's sports don't count.

So in a more physical sport he can come back sooner and better? Mmmkay

can't compare any of these situations. Everyone's body responds differently. Look at Adrian Peterson... ****, Thurman Thomas and Hines Ward played without an ACLs for a while
