Golden on Hurricane Hotline

I think he wants to build a legacy at UM..

His comments have reflected that he thinks that will happen for him..

It sounds like we will self-impose scholies before signing day. He emphasized that this class would be 15-16 and that this was a conscious decision.

Golden is understanding the kind of talent he can get at Miami. This guy is starting to get excited. He's just waiting out the **** storm to pass while he quietly puts together the pieces.

He's basically pinned down at his position. He's loading up his weapons and gathering troops, getting backup. He's chilling out while he takes fire, and the minute it lets up, he's standing up with his crew and unloading a hellacious firestorm of death onto everything in his path, leaving behind scorched Earth, body parts, and a few smoldering documents that say something about sanctions.

Guys say it, but I really believe he loves this place and wouldn't budge for any offer. He's sitting in a terrible conference with a glutenous amount of talent within a 30 minute radius of his office. Al Golden loves the history at Miami. He has the attitude of a true Cane. And I won't be surprised if he drops the double middle finger after hoisting the crystal ball.

ill be doing the same thing. I just hope we can keep him long term.

Hey Money...What's the reviews on Jontavious C. after the first year?

Still behind the other three but last I heard he's ahead of Jones. Still very early, will be interesting to see how he develops over the off-season.

Would be a priceless moment after the bull**** he's putting up with.

golden lives on an acre in south miami in a multi million dollar home. very nice home. a client of mine is his neighbor.

golden has the vision, discipline, communication skills and recruiting skills to build a great team. some game time decisions appear to be questionable, but that's easy for me to say sitting on a couch or in the stands.

i think the football landscape has improved dramatically since we last won, and certainly since the 80s and 90s and therefore the margin between the today's elite programs (Bama, LSU etc.) and UM at this moment is greater than during our last 2 rebuilding periods, so UM has a lot of catching up to do. however, this is college football and the mighty do fall to inferior teams (see USC, Bama, Kansas State and Oregon), so UM could being in the hunt next year or in 2014. i think our future is bright, although the sanctions are likely to be somewhat unprecedented (the violations are egregious, occurring for many years and with 75-100 players) and harsh. i believe golden will stay through the sanctions, otherwise he might be viewed as a quitter. if he wins a NC here, others will call and offer him a ton of cash and just like any coach, he'll listen and may go (see howard, jimmy and dennis)(all of them could have been legendary life-long coaches)(all of them failed elsewhere except JJ). but i dont care about that because we are putting the cart before the horse. let's continue getting the recruits, developing the players, withstand probation and win. everything else will take care of itself.

sorry for the "rant".

I'll say it again, to paraphrase Howard Schnellenberger: Al Golden is on a collision course with greatness at Miami. The only variable is time( and NCAA sanctions)

Again, I ride and die with the fellow...

Nice post.

As for the bolded, I might consider donating 10% of my salary for a few years for that to happen.

The only thing better would be a Tupac Hit 'em Up type deal where he puts everyone on blast: "Greg Doyle, **** you. Omar Kelly, **** You. Mark May and Lou Holtz, **** you. Brent Musberger, **** you. Kirby Hocutt and Shawn Eichorst, die slow mother****ers. And Greg Robinson, **** you too. If you wanna be down with Yahoo Sports, then **** you too!"

ALL OF THIS!!!!!!

This has been a very interesting interview. Golden is as positive as he's ever been. He keeps saying "I can't wait until we add 15 kids to this team." That sounds like the number. There are going to be some people left out.

Would rather see him add 20 kids and trim more dead weight. But agree he's been at 15 for a while now and doesn't seem to be budging.

And Jenkins and Bush would be the most athletic S combo we have had in a decade.

+10000. I can name 6-8 kids right now that will likely leave early or that we could let go with minimal impact. Better to let them go now, and replace them with FR that will still be around in 4 maybe 5 years to help the team when the impact of schollie reductions will be felt. Retaining JRs that dont contribute for one more season in 2013 will be detrimental to the team since we might not be able to fill that schollie in 2014 with schollie penalties that year.
