Golden on Hurricane Hotline

This has been a very interesting interview. Golden is as positive as he's ever been. He keeps saying "I can't wait until we add 15 kids to this team." That sounds like the number. There are going to be some people left out.

Honestly, I know we'll have limited ships, but leaving out top notch talent is not a good idea IMO. Just hate to do it

Who said top notch talent would be left out? To me it's get on the bus or there won't be a seat when the bus pulls away. AG and staff have been much more selective and deliberate in recruiting than the last two frauds called head coaches we had here.

Golden keeps making a point that I've been harping on: whether it's the early 1980s or the mid-1990s, probation has predated our greatest success.

Were we on probation prior to our great run from 83-92 when we won 4 out of our 5 NCs?We went on probation in the mid 90s and won 1 NC in 2001.

Yes, we were banned from post season play in '81 or '82 IIRC. Not remembering for what exactly though.
Wow,didn't know this.Kind of shocking considering how crappy we were back then.

I know we were banned in '81, not sure about '82. We didn't go to a bowl in '82, but we were only 7-4 and there weren't 123 bowl games back then. In '81 we were very good, 9-2, a couple of plays from being 11-0, and we finished ranked in the top 10 IIRC. We were banned from a bowl in '81, so we used our season ending game against Notre Dame as a "bowl" and kicked the cr@p out of them, 37-15. Game was on ESPN Classic recently.

You would know better than me, but personal speculation has me thinking this is the number minus any EE's. Allows him to put pressure on top targets. Anyone know how many we can take to apply to last year?

I believe he is very close to Jimmy and idolizes him in a way. He is very intrigued and respectful of the history of this program. It resonates with him. He wants to be the head coach of a team that is fast, bold, and kicks the **** out of people while talking **** the entire time. I really think he is a huge fan of the famous Canes teams and he wants a few of his own.

Golden might have his ups and downs on game days but no one can deny that he is an extremely intelligent man. Not only that but he's got some attitude in him and he knows when to turn it on and when to tone it down. Perfect fit for us, especially during these times.

Not sure but right now only AJL seems to be an EE

No one is saying it will for sure be left out. I just don't like drawing a line at 15...I hope and think that line is flexible based on who wants in. Could just be a sales tatic...

On the recruiting board someone said 6. AJL is one. Hopefully we bring in a JUCO or 2. None of the HS guys we are after seem to be EEs.

I see exactly what Al is seeing. Multiple guys are beginning to "flash" and that's all you are really looking for at this point.

Herb Waters
Eddie Johnson
Olsen Pierre
Malcolm Lewis
Rashawn Scott
Phil Dorsett
Denzel Perryman
Anthony Chickillo
Duke Johnson
Deon Bush
Rayshawn Jenkins
Tracy Howard
Ladarius Gunter
Ereck Flowers
Tyriq McCord

Are ALL guys who have flashed at some point this year. That list doesn't include anyone who is going to receive a shirt this year. Jawand Blue, Dwayne Hoilett, and Jontavious Carter are all guys we expect to make big contributions off a redshirt year. There is light at the end of the tunnel

**** right. That boy is going to be a beast.

Golden is understanding the kind of talent he can get at Miami. This guy is starting to get excited. He's just waiting out the **** storm to pass while he quietly puts together the pieces.

He's basically pinned down at his position. He's loading up his weapons and gathering troops, getting backup. He's chilling out while he takes fire, and the minute it lets up, he's standing up with his crew and unloading a hellacious firestorm of death onto everything in his path, leaving behind scorched Earth, body parts, and a few smoldering documents that say something about sanctions.

Guys say it, but I really believe he loves this place and wouldn't budge for any offer. He's sitting in a terrible conference with a glutenous amount of talent within a 30 minute radius of his office. Al Golden loves the history at Miami. He has the attitude of a true Cane. And I won't be surprised if he drops the double middle finger after hoisting the crystal ball.

Very well said. He sees Miami for the true sleeping giant it is.

Nice post.

As for the bolded, I might consider donating 10% of my salary for a few years for that to happen.

The only thing better would be a Tupac Hit 'em Up type deal where he puts everyone on blast: "Greg Doyle, **** you. Omar Kelly, **** You. Mark May and Lou Holtz, **** you. Brent Musberger, **** you. Kirby Hocutt and Shawn Eichorst, die slow mother****ers. And Greg Robinson, **** you too. If you wanna be down with Yahoo Sports, then **** you too!"

I would be willing to bet his wife and kids love it down there too. If the wife isn't happy, nobody is happy, lol. I'd imagine they live in a great area.

From what I remember, they live in a very, very nice home in South Miami worth a couple million or so. Considering everything, no reason for them to be upset.

Just listening to this interview. Dude is going to build a monster. Alabama esque, I truly believe that. Maybe he isn't going to be Saban coaching wise, but we don't need him to.

**** I can't wait until next year.
