Golden: Morris looks better than ever

Ugly numbers for Morris in the article by Reece Davis:

There is one tangible thing that Miami must do to have any chance against Florida State. Stephen Morris has to be better on third down. He's converting on just 30 percent of third-down pass plays. That ranks 95th in the country. He ranks 108th out of 127 quarterbacks in QBR on third down. He's been responsible for six turnovers and only two touchdowns on third down.

On the other hand, Winston leads the nation with a near-perfect third-down QBR of 99.5 and a 63 percent conversion rate on pass plays. He's accounted for six touchdowns and only one turnover on such plays.

He's been in a lot of 3rd and longs, most of the time because he screwed up on 1st or 2nd down. He hasn't been patient at all. He did seem to start hitting some shorter throws against Wake, but still wasn't consistent. I know they keep calling is a bruise, but it's acting more like a high ankle sprain. I have a feeling Golden is saying positive things more to keep other teams from keying on it and going after the ankle even more.

The next 2 weeks can cement Morris's legacy at this University. We have 2 big rivalry games with major national and conference implications. We win both and he's a hero, we all konw how this fanbase will react to different results.

Vag Tech is the must-win game. Play poorly in that one and lose, and he'll go down as a crumb bum. We need to and should beat Flubberneck. We're better than them.

Their offense is awful but that defense is legit, but agree we still should win by at least 2 tds.

I have never seen a game like last week against Duke in my life.

Their defense held Duke to 13 points, under 200 total yards and forced 4 INTs. If that is all you heard, you would think VT won by 20 points. I have never seen a defense that good with an offense that incompetent.

You mean since we beat Florida?
