It's his fault we aren't deep enough
Nothing to do with our problems with the NCAA, right? lol

No. We are thin at rb cuz he didn't offer players who should have been

You mean like slow playing Bernard and Freeman?
Putting eggs in the basket of Bryce Brown?
Having Lamar leave as a rs so?

Freeman...eggs..Collins..Lamar was expected to leave. There haven been plenty of stud rb's that have left south fla

Name the ones from the pAst two classes.

Collins...we already know. Who else would you classify as a "stud" that left? Darius
tice? Greg Bryant?

Closest I can figure, outside of Collins, is Tarean Folston, who is far from a stud. THIS class is the one with all the stud SoFla running backs, and right now we have 2 of the 4 committed. Anything before 2012 you can put on Randy. Gio, Freeman, Wilder, etc.

We need to be 3 deep at RB and we were only 2 deep. Now Crawford is the man and Clements or Gus need to step up big time.

We're at 75 schollies too (because we already factored in 9 schollies in anticipation of NCAA ruling).
So truth is we've BEEN on probation for last 3 years & not just from a black cloud standpoint, but from a scholarship #s POV.

I like the pitch, but we didn't lose last night because of depth. Good PR angle, though.

I don't think it was a depth issue either. I think it was talent at some spots and Jemima Squintston v. Steve Morris. The QB battle was lopsided in their favor, and that's never good. We left lots of points on the field because of missed passes. Those explosive plays we missed could have been huge in turning the momentum.

And I've said it many times before, but you're not going to ever be a great defense and stop a great QB like Jemima with guys like 30, 31, 59 and 51 eating up tons of reps.

You can add Woodley to that list...a big back that we need right now. Not every player is going to be a stud...depth is what's hurting us.

We've got depth. How much better is Woodley than Dallas or Gus? We are not lacking bodies at RB. I think we're lacking great RBs (don't really know about Gus yet because he hasn't been given enough run).

If you don't think depth played a huge part in our loss last night you are delusional. Talent some as well. Some of our starters are not Miami material, we all know that. But depth was a big issue last night.

A bipolar QB, even makes them dudes 100 times worse, because they are forced into action more than they should be.

Olsen isnt going to beat FSU unless the defense figures out how to get off the field on 3rd downs.

And this, if anything is the reason we lost last night.

It cannot be overstated how much defensive 3rd down conversions killed us.

Everyone wants to hang it all on one thing. And its not all one thing. Yes we got out coached last night. But lack of quality depth was CERTAINLY part of it. SO was the fact that many of our key players are the leftovers from the Shannon years of mediocrity. Clive Walford was a trainwreck last night. He has to be the slowest TE in the country. Our depth at Safety is attrocious, as evidenced by AJ Highsmith being on the field, a guy who single handedly probably helped FSU achieve more offensive success than anyone other than Winston himself. Then we have Stephen Morris, who, really, is a trainwreck right now and is the single biggest disappointment on this team right now.

The TALENT we really have, is younger guys who arent all they way there yet. Guys like McCord, AQM, Coley, Figueroa, Tracy Howard,Herb Waters, Duke, Artie Burns, Jenkins, I mean THINK about how many YOUNG players are getting MAJOR reps on this team? What does that tell you? Tells you we STILL have HUGE holes and lack of talent among our upper classmen. Shannon's last class, and Al's first, which you cant blame him too much for as he didnt have much to work with, are what is still hurting this team. Yes we have guys like DP, and Hurns who are balling, but are any of those guys SUPERSTARS? Our BEST upperclassmen, are good to very good players, but not very elite.

This team is a year or two away from really refilling the ranks with QUALITY players, with some real ballers. Add a capable Qb, and we will be able to hang with anyone in the country. Is our coaching staff the best in America? No. But we have a pretty **** good HC who knows what needs to be done. Our OC is young, and I think has potential, but hard to judge because of what he has to work with. I think the jury is still out on our DC, and some of the assistants are not really overly impressive, but with another few solid recruiting classes like what we have brought in the last two years, and the one we look to be building this year, we are going to look like a MUCH better team, which will also make these coaches look much better.

Can't wait to see Olsen!!!

Olsen isnt going to beat FSU unless the defense figures out how to get off the field on 3rd downs.

Maybe if SteMope challenged himself, and the rest of his offense to convert 3rd downs. The defense wouldn't be hung out on a limb every 30 seconds because of a possession change.

Yet i get why you feel Olsen won't do better, cause that would **** on your man crush tendency you have with Morris.

Agree the defense was attrocious and deserves a lot of blame, but our offense doesnt do it any favors. We were facing one of the best, if not THE best offense right now in college football, and our offense did nothing to help them out. We dont manage the clock, we cant sustain drives, and we are forced to play from behind game after game because our offense simply cannot produce consistently. Im not excusing the defense at all, but a functional offense can really help a defense. It seemed like our defense was on the field for 48 minutes last night.

I believe it had to do with not running the ball in the second half and the missed holding penalties against FSU that sprung them in the end zone or for long runs. We have the talent and are fairly deep. We got caught running a sloppy zone on D and trying to catch up by passing on O. Stick to the plan OC and DC. It works, just ask FSU.

come on. not having a throwing game and aj highsmith literally accounting for 21 of their pts hurt more than anything.

3rd down defense was a problem but FSU has been doing that all year. Coming into the the game FSU was 15 of 20 on 3rd and 7 plus. They demolished Clemson in similar situations. Right now they are on another level from us. We really needed the offense to control the clock and pick up more 1st downs just to stay in the game. Didn't happen and we got blown out in the 2nd half.

FSU has around the same amount of scholarships
