Golden at the heart of recruiting success in South FL

And Michel cited this: "What concerned me was Miami's facilities," Michel said, adding Georgia's are nicer. "They should be more up to par. And the fan base is not too big, not what I would expect."
phony being phony...

Quasar called himself a UM fan at one point so I agree with him that at least one UM fan is a piece of crap loser. As for the facilities, if that's what he's focusing on then fugg him.

Here's how I see UM's facilities in relation to some of these schools located out in the sticks. I analogize our facilities to high priced real estate. Our facilities are like a brand new 3000 square foot high end condo in New York city. The value, even though the facilities are relatively small, is much greater than some giant complex in the middle of nowhere.

The facilities at these redneck schools in the middle of nowhere are like a 20,000 square foot mansion built on a landfill in the sticks. The much smaller NYC condo is infinitely more valuable on the real estate market. Same with UM.

Al is really talented at the whole marketing/PR/personal relations/recruiting aspect of things as well as organization/CEO stuff a d strength/conditioning. The last piece is just game day coaching, but he definitely has serious talent in areas that are extremely important in today's game.

I was encouraged when he turned down a big name job like Wisconsin but I'm not sure how long he will keep turning things down if he can get to 10 wins here. He will likely be offered 3m elsewhere and I know we don't pay our coaches top dollar. His family does like it here but ultimately no rational person is going to turn down 3 for 2.

You have to realize that UM is a way better job than Wisconsin. UM fans have truly fallen on tough times when we start thinking a coach did us a favor by not leaving for fcking Wisconsin.

Aroid still over UM baseball $2.9 million of his $3.9 million pledge. If he gets banned for life, don't expect to see the balance.

Great comparison, something I have constantly brought up before so let me ask a question based on the above.

What would it take you to move to Gainsville, Trailerhasse, Bama or essentially anywhere in the SEC?

I do personal training for a living in Mobile. I know 2 UGA graduates(couple) that are big time Bulldog fans, but they will tell you they were buying players like a fantasy football auction. I wouldn't put it past them that they bought Sony! SEC gonna $EC!!!

What's up with Sony taking a shot at the facilities which are brand new and the fan base? Another local kid dissing the home town team .

What's really funny is this kid has been going to UM since he was in diapers. He knows everything about UM, the good and the bad. He's chosen to focus on the bad in order to justify his decision to attend Georgia. He may be a great kid, but I question his character!
In an article that shows how most local guys love what UM is about and what the staff represents we shouldnt waste any time on Sonys *** but celebrate the studs who represent UM

Gotta agree with this. It's almost like he's reading the script of what our opponents spew to recruits down here. It's like the scene in longest yard when Adam Sandler sits the bench and claims to be hurt. He's just saying what he has to say to justify, however transparent it may be, turning his back on his childhood favorite. Kid will always wonder what it's like to live out his dream. I feel sorry for him, money should never trump dreams.

I'd never move to any of those redneck wastelands. I can't imagine a black kid wanting to go dance for all those confederate flag waving racist pigs. Odd to see young black dudes freely choosing to go play for a bunch of rednecks who show up to games in their pickup trucks with their rebel flags flying.

Insanity. I could never go to those places for an hour and I am not black. Those places sound like **** on earth but the people are sure plesant.

Not to mention, for the most part, they are pretty crappy in the academic department.

These facilities are merely bait and a destraction from what Alabama or Mississippi or Northern Florida are really like. Imagine having to go outside the campus and dealing with the gentle locals.

You can build a palace of gold but it is still in Alabama.

Our fans forget that we are in Coral Gables.

Franchise, funny u mention that. If most of these kids knew how the fans at most of these sec schools really felt about them once they were done playing for them, they'd never sign w those schools.
I've thought about this a long time. Was gonna make a long post about this months ago. It amazes me.

Skip to 5:20 on the video to hear an ole miss fan speak

I wouldn't even be at Ole Miss or any other of those type of schools, Let's see if you really wanted to play for the Crimson Tide 50-60 years ago....

Kid has been on campus and at games since he was a zygote. Me thinks he is being fed some BS by crappy UGA publicists and people with their hands out.

Sony Michel is such a clown.... smh. What true "die hard' UM fan would even care about bs like that??

He's too blind to understand that Miami's local fan base has been hearing nothing but negative things about Miami from the local media for years and on top of that Miami hasnt been "The U" in years.

Al Golden knows that once you start turning a program around and creating more positive buzz then the fans WILL show up to support you. As far as the facilities, if he "expects" UM to have facilities the same size as a UGA campus in the middle of nowhere then he is dumb and blind. The new facilities at UM are very nice and is of good quality.

**** all the haters, this staff is doing things that are unprecedented at this school and probably any other school in the unique ways they interact w/ recruits and the community.

They are doing a helluva job.... Al Golden just gets it, simple as that.

The facilities thing is always stupid to me. The facilities are far improved compared to what guys like Ray Lewis and Ed Rees had, and they turned out ok. And the fan base is the same now as it was during the championship years...win and they love you. The stadium sucks but last I checked, stadiums don't win games or get you drafted.

Lucky he didn't see the facilities when we were winning 5 National Championships.
Would have thought he was looking at Miami Southridge.

Travonte Valentine is my favorite recruit in this class....

Valentine "did my research" on the great Miami teams in the 1980s and said, "I can bring that back. After my (former) Florida and Louisville commitments, I said, 'Man, let me stop making mistakes and come to Miami.' "
