Georgia Tech Post Game Plus/Minus

I would say D'Onofrio gets a both a - and a plus. He had time to prepare for GT so -, and he made some nice adjustments +. Feels great to win Canes fans!

It looked like we played real bad. But then again, in the end we beat the crap out of the team that went to ACC title game last year. This is the type of game we loss last year. Four turnovers and we win big. Hurt QB and we win big. Was that our starting guard, Linder, I saw playing tackle most of the game? And was that our backup center playing in his guard spot? Did we even have the ball 10 minutes in the first half?

Guys this looked like those games where some is playing a top team and puts up a great first quarter and gets a bunch of breaks but still ends up getting their head beat in. You it a lot. We are that top team that can get out played early and make mistakes and still crush a good team. I am good with that.

As bad as the announcers were they are nowhere near as bad as half of you pussies on the game day blog.
Seriously, most of you guys should just not post during the games.

Morris 17-22 324 yards 3 td's 2 bad passes.
Duke 184 yards 325 total yards.
Defense from 2nd quarter on stifled GT.

All that and if you looked on our game day blog you would think we lost by 21.

Just pathetic.

? Every game day blog is ridiculous, for any team and on pretty much every site. If one isn't a fan of em, then don't bother, but **** changes from play to play so much that guys tend to focus on areas of improvement a ton, making things look worse than they are. That gameday blog was no different from any other.

I've never been on another team's blog, so I wouldn't know how they are.
I only go on ours at halftime and after the game.
Go back and read it.
Seems like half our fans are of the true fair weather, what have you done for me lately variety.
When Morris threw those picks, I yelled "dammit!" But no part of me wanted them to pull him.
Half our fans seem to cringe every time Duke gets hit, worrying about a fumble.
Guy was 2 yards from a career high with over 320 total yards total offense.
He got rocked on that fumble. It happens to the best of them.
Like I said, a lot of people should just wait until after the game. Then wait some more to post.

We won I think for any team to have a successful season your gonna haves game it two in which you got to over come something

Today was one if those days and not only did we kvetching come some key mistakes we adjusted in the second half and killed them

On to the next one lets celebrate get healthy and keep winning

The only "pull Morris" comments I recall were couched in terms of if the guy was so hurt that he just threw it away when he saw a blitzer (as he did on one 3rd down pass that was almost picked), then maybe Ryan Williams was worth a look. Then the guy primarily responsible for the comments told his own self to shut the **** up after the Coley catch late. He appropriately ate his own words.

People are blowing things out of proportion about standard out-of-proportion comments on game day threads.

Game day threads aren't for everyone, but a general rule is anything said during a game may as well mean jack **** and be taken for what it's worth: nothing. I agree that they should wait, but some of us don't mind watching the game from about 2200 miles away and making snide comments during it, knowing it means nothing and that it's an overreaction. Sort of a la Breaking Bad's twitter deal.

+ William Shakespeare (who first first recognized the need for the UTough program). Despite losing the first half time of possession battle badly (and about a thousand chicken littles freaking out about how PJ's triple option would dominate our gassed defenders in the second half, once again, at the end of the game, our boys actually appeared to be getting stronger, and were dominating the GT OLmen.

Fatigue makes cowards of us all. William Shakespeare (not Patton, nor Lombardi, Shakespeare).

Have to give some love to Justin Renfro also. Dude is a great pick up and has been consistent for us the whole year.

Just saying about game day threads for my final point, I'd rather have so many of the red rockets like CanesGotSwag! going nuts in that thread than starting 2-3 hilarious concern troll threads over in Eye in the Sky.

Take away the first quarter (I know, I know, you can't) and the last drives, and the defense played a great game. Defense gave up around 400 yards, but 200 came in the first quarter and another 80 on the last 2 drives.

Anyway, I think the defense will be fine against "normal" offenses.

We need to get this ******* turnover thing under control, because if we do, our offense is unstoppable. We don't turn it over, we score 70 today.

Sorry, but our offense is not unstoppable. That's an overstatement of epic proportions.

Epic proportions? No. We don't turn it over today we probably go over 60 points and 600 yards against a defense ranked in the top 10 in the nation I know GT isn't that good, I'll give you unstoppable was a little exaggeration, but Morris is not close to 100%, and we turned it over a bunch and still put up eye popping numbers.

If our offense were anything approaching "unstoppable", then why could we not move the ball against UF for the vast majority of the game? And an unstoppable offense does not struggle as much as ours has in short yardage situations. We have a good offense with big play potential, but unstoppable we are not.

Pluses:

James Coley is an upgrade over Fish. Much better playcaller. Sets stuff up better and the offense doesn't disappear for huge portions of games even with a one-legged QB.

Defense didn't go in the tank when it sure looked like that's where they were heading.

Renfrow turned the entire game around with his strip of Vag Pee.

McCord has transformed from horribly undersized and physically overmatched to an absolute savage. He should have played more today because I think we needed an infusion of speed and explosion at times today.

Duke stepped up after looking like a goat with another ****** fumble.

Morris gutted up and played through obvious pain including executing a roll out that must have been very painful on that beauty to Coley.

Minuses:

Turnovers. Need to fix that. You usually can't turn it over 4 times while the game is still at issue and expect to win. We're getting too sloppy with the football.

Need to get our defensive calls in quicker. We'd be doomed against an uptempo offense.

The one true negative from this game was Dorsett's muffed punt.
I think that experiment is over.
On the flip side he sure looked great taking the top off on the second offensive play.

Our defense got shredded the 1st quarter then pretty much stuffed them the rest of the game.
That speaks to good coaching, and even more importantly, high football IQ.
Last year our d wouldn't have been able to make the adjustment.
This year is a brand new defense.
The bionic man defense.
Bigger, stronger, faster, smarter.

We're not playing Florida again, so I really don't care about a game a month ago.
