He's a buzz name, and you're right. Having said that, the one viable candidate that caused me a modicum of concern would've been Mullen. Chip has never had good recruiting classes and it's a different monster in the ACC/SEC (both conferences recruit the same region).

Yea its alot different than Oregon for sure, if he wants the job he must hire alot of Florida guys with deep ties, like Shannon
 
Its a good hire, probably a great hire actually. Helps with saving this recruiting class. Adds a huge amount of buzz for the program. As for the vaunted "SEC Defenses", what SEC? Alabama, Georgia, then who else? SEC is over rated and hurting right now, this might be just the right time for them. Spurriers offenses weren't exactly SEC either, and he did pretty dang good.

He's a great developer of players at the College level bc he's able to better get players who fit his scheme perfectly. Literally turned every QB he had into a stud. Mariota was a 2 star on some sites! Also pulled off one of the great recruiting heists of the decade with Deanthony Thomas. Problem with him is he loses interest really fast.

In short, I wouldn't be worried about him as a UM fan. UGA, Tenn, Auburn, LSU, and FSU fans on the other hand ...

Well, South Carolina has Muschamp who's rebuilding them real quick. We don't know what the UT and Arky hires will bring, and presumably A&M.

It's a different breed in this region.
 
Crap Kelly will have UF in the top 10 in 2 years . Was hoping they would try for Muellen who is the most overrated garbage coach out there. He again made bone head choices which caused MSU to lose to bama .

Mariota was a 3-star on Rivals, Scout, and 247. He was only a 2-star on ESPN.

Yeah. I'm sure the plan is to keep Seider and/or hire other surrogates to do that for him. It's still not great for them when guys like Richt and Urban will get more involved and Kelly isn't as receptive.

Also Kelly will be recruiting largely religious black kids in the rural south. Not the most progressive place in the world. Negative recruiting against him will be really easy. All our coaches are married and have families. The rumors are that Chip isn't too fond of the ladies.

This ain't Oregon. The accusations of racism and rumors of his secret double life will doom Chip Kelly with the players down here.
 
Chip Kelly's Offense was absolutely manhandled by Auburn. Chip Kelly's offense was manhandled by Stanford. I can see him and the ole ball coach getting into a ton of heated arguments. Chip is not a recruiter, like at all. His ego is just as big, if not bigger than Harbaugh's.
