Tears Gator Tears

Your 247 website says that you have 17 outgoing Portal players and 4 incoming.

Rosters went from 85 to 105.

Gator Mathz does not compute...

5 of those guys weren’t on scholly and a lot of the non scholly guys currently are going to get awarded schollys in the spring not to mention the spring portal transfer window.

You know this staff moves notoriously slow in the portal, come on now

I can definitely pull up receipts of people warning us they were going to spend big on the portal too. The best player they got was the UCLA WR, something ain't adding up lmao

Don't let them change the narrative
My understanding is their big time boosters donated a ton of money for Billy’s buyout, and it was bookmarked for that, and when they started spending that money on NIL the donors started asking for their money back. So the money for portal players was not available.

Good times!

So...I reject your premise...
I’m all for dunking on the gator even if we like @flagator86 but unfortunately you’re not correct here- Not for the SEC- conference said they were holding at 85 for 2025 season

Separately I think it might not be wise for anyone to automatically fully go to 105. That’s more players to split the theoretical revenue share if//when house settlement comes. Could be situational.

They have lost 18 guys to the portal not counting that quarterback they told would compete for a starting job. 6 of the players they’ve lost played defensive line/edge

They’re have signed 2 players in the portal.

One of them is a punter.

Broke gator.

looking at Lagways stats,
115/ 192 59.9% 12TD/9 INT for 1915 yards
sacked 13 times.

rushed 50 times for 101 yards.

pedestrian at best..

456 yards against Samford
305 against Tulane

meh.
The Gators are still on their dillusional hype train because Lagway was rated a 5-star QB out of high school. He had 9 TDs and 9 INTs against non-FCS opponents. Those are bust numbers.

Lagway may have elite obysical tools, but the decision making and coverage reading skills are not even average at this point. He may develop, but certainly his overall 2024 body of work is nothing to be excited about.

Lagway is the second coming of Anthony Richardson. Both are physical specimens who can pick up 10 easy yards with their feet and jack the rock 75 yards, easy-peasy. But both are way too inaccurate and have zero-touch. . . . and both are over-rated based upon potential . . . "wait till he puts it all together".

Good news for UF is that the portal doesn’t exist. Take your time

He’s not nearly the freak athlete that Richardson is but he’s a better passer. He will likely improve this year with some experience under his belt but how much is the question. UF fans are expecting him to have a Heisman caliber season. That’s completely ridiculous. He could improve at a realistic rate and be a middle of the pack SEC quarterback but that’s not going to be enough to carry the entire team.

What they’re missing is that even the most talented qb needs coaching to help the talent blossom. Sure, there are the very rare talents that transcend coaching, but in no way has lagway shown himself to be that. He is a talented player who could blossom with the right coaching and the right system. Napier is in no way considered an offensive savant who will design an amazing offense to utilize his entire skill set. This keeps them in the middle of the pack in the sec

I hate the gator but I mean Napier did mend an utterly **** Mertz to a level where he was getting legitimate hype coming into this season. I don’t think he is a builder/developer of talent. I do think Napier has an offense that is QB friendly and effective when he has good personnel.

I was listening to SXM CFB radio the other day and they had Ben Hartsock on talking about their underdog “win” in ‘03. He said that Miami ran the simplest offense he had ever seen. We had 14 plays and that we were almost unstoppable with just those 14 plays. Personnel matters. If you have the right dudes and they execute your stuff correctly it doesn’t take much to be successful. I think Napier has an offense like that, simple play designs and reads that are relatively easy on the QB but work if well executed.

Gayts have no interest in winning games with portal guys next year. They want to build the roster to can billy and go in for 2026. Even with talent Billy has proven he’s terrible

That’s a fair assessment. I feel his success with mertz was overinflated because of the high num we of short passes and screens. It’s not a knock on the system. The bengals utilize shirt passes in lieu of a running game. But the system allowed him to be a game manager and limit mistakes. The danger they’ll have is trying to change that since lagway has a better arm without the proper qb development.

Talent deficit Gator.

You can’t just recruit HS players if you are losing double digit transfers each year.

A large majority of our fans, well the ones you see online, expect him to improve and we know he has Heisman like potential buuuuuut….we know why he won’t be in that convo.

Check the comments and the answer is there lol

@TheOriginalCane @DTP

Care to comment or nah?

Beck is a seasoned QB. He's much better than Lagway at this point. It's not even close. Lagway had 9 TDs and 9 INTs against non-fcs opponents.
They’re hoping that he takes an enormous leap, like Vince Young did from year 2 (12 TDs, 11 INTs) to year 3 (28 TDs, 10 INTs)
