Having an asset like Alonzo who can act as a GM 365 days a year looks better and better with this open free agency going on. Schools that arent willing to invest in roster management like that will find themselves on the wrong end more often than not.

Was listening to a FSU podcast just too hear updates on their QB portal situation, how they feel on JJ etc..dude brought up this exact thing with how the portal is going & how FSU and other need to carve out a GM type role and scouting operations just to keep track of guys ..Im listening and just thinking MC already ahead of them on that

I tried to tell folks two years ago.

The Alonzo situation has been amazing for us. He has brought NFL level scouting and evaluation to UM. He has overseen a massive uptick in our video resources. He is using NFL Combine interview questions to evaluate recruits. We are doing off-season exit interviews with all our players.

Everyone can try to emulate us, but I'm not sure how many will be able to sign a guy with Alonzo's credentials.
