@RVACane You really knocked it out of the park with your comments. Even though, the jokes have basically written themselves this weekend.
If I’m being remotely fair, I get that it’s the first OV weekend in June and kids have other visits lined up. I says the same thing on this board as it relates to expectations in June… but we saw their set up for the visits and when you see some of the quotes kids gave after this weekend at Miami, and the feedback I’m seeing on their board per their writer, it sure seems like it was flat there with no buzz and momentum.

They have the personality of a gallon of milk and the creativity of someone who's been in a coma for 50 years and just came out of it. Can't believe that this was the best they could come up with, especially on their first cruitin' weekend.
We may not land everyone that we want; but those kids and their families have been wowed this weekend by our staff and we've given them all something to think about.

I mean how much momentum can you have when you’re weighted down with cinnamon buns and that once in a lifetime ( anymore than once and your heart might stop) Mac and mayo they fed them…it’s like that sleepiness you get from eating Turkey only 10 times worse..

Honestly I’m surprised an evening at Dave and Busters along with 2 nights lodging at the “Stadium Hotel” wasn’t a bigger hit

Doom corridors. North Korean propaganda reels on ad naseum loops. Custom cars in front of bathrooms. Rusty stadium seats with peanut shells and spittle.

So many delights this weekend

I’m just reading what’s being said in the initial reports. I know I’m biased but still. Nothing worried me at all about their weekend
Being totally unbiased here, after reading their itinerary I would’ve rather spent the entire weekend in a high pressure time share presentation with it turning into Dusk till Dawn at nightfall

Not even the rides with Billy…that had to strike fear in the heart of every coach trying to recruit against that….I mean Billy and a Maybach…once in a lifetime type of stuff…..😜

Yes, yes, yes.

And let's be honest, sir, you and I read that SwampAss 247 board, and we know what's up.

They made "the first visit weekend" out to be their make-or-break. They pulled out all the stops. They got their two best verbals to come out. They gave Balake the backstage pass to everything, from the breathless "who gets to ride with Coach Slingblade next" leaks...to the pics and videos of Dave & Busters. The Gaytors co-opted BingBong to write a puff piece about their big weekend.

So what backfired? From putting their chips on flips...to relying on their QB verbal to be their "best recruiter"...to encouraging everyone to post details that will be mocked as the 2023 version of "mac & mayo"...to the simple fact that they got ZERO VERBALS, even from 3-star recruits...

I mean...it's just comical...

And don't get it wrong, the Gaytors are so flop-sweat desperate for recruiting momentum that if they DID get any verbals, even if they were silent, Balake would have been authorized to drop hints like crazy.

Here's the true difference. All of these PUBLIC displays of affection, such as "Jeremiah Smith opened up to DJ Lagway like a delicate flower" and "look at these special Maybach touches that Billy waited 18 months to bust out" are really designed to make the FANS feel better about the effort. It clearly didn't move any recruits. And even if any recruits DID feel better after the visit, IT'S JUST THE VISIT HIGH. It happens every weekend. And once some of those guys get down to Coral Gables? I guaran-*******-tee you they won't be getting Wal-Mart cinnamon buns and Dave & Busters unlimited play cards.

So, yeah...after maximum effort and firehose-high-pressure recruiting, the Gaytors have nothing to show. And they might get a couple of these guys later. And we have to be direct about this, the dopes who are falling for this the hardest are the UF alums who think that living in Hogtown for 4 or 5 years was the highlight of their lives. So TO THEM, they think that a kid should swoon at Spurriers. That a kid should be giddy getting in a Maybach. That a kid should be impressed by a tiny Ikea hotel room with a great view of a retention pond with fountain features.

Really, all it's gonna take for these recruits to start ignoring Florida again is (a) a better OV experience elsewhere (not hard) and (b) a rival staff that is as genuine and attention/detail-oriented as Florida's (and I know one place where they will find that experience).

Not worried at all. Just laughing.

That whole car drive thing sounds so lame.

It’s a big deal if Nick Saban is doing it, but G5 sling blade Billy? Not so much.

It’s like having to tolerate a really bad cover band. It’s not the same thing, and the quality is really really bad.
Wanna hear the most annoying sound ever??? - Billy, probably

Expecting a bunch of commits after the first round of visits is unrealistic. So that’s not really an issue. The real issue is the apparent inability to move the needle on a bunch of higher rated guys they’re desperate to sign. The fact that they got a bunch of “no comments” when asked about the weekend tells you everything you need to know. A bunch of underwhelmed recruits.
