MSU's campus is "nice" about 6 months of the year. Unfortunately class is in session for only about 3 of them. All of their PR shots are basically during fall foliage, which lasts like three weeks. Unless you like school in the snow. I think snow is cool so +1. It's gigantic. Over 5000 acres and over 50k students. You know, for that personal touch. It's surely once of the nicer very large campuses - at the right time of the year, weather depending. Also, a river runs through it. So they've got that going for them, which is nice.
They have a lot of really nice trees, almost all of which look dead from November to April, and certainly some nice old buildings (and also some really basic, bad 1960's community college looking architecture).
But, you know, it's certainly nicer than Gainesville.
