Tears Gator Tears

Florida, with it's legions of fans filling their on campus stadium every Saturday can't afford NIL deals while lowly Miami, who plays in a half-empty rented stadium is Ted Dibiasse, throwing money around and buying up players just for fun.

Goes to show you exactly how important any of that crap that they make a big deal out of actually is.
Yup capacity doesn't mean **** it's always about the almighty dollar

Just a 3 or 4 page bump, while we debate the right nickname for Gaypier...

Canes fans been doing it for years

Difference is there was truth to the bag argument. I don't think benefactors like Ruiz would risk getting caught dropping bags to recruits and having to deal with an investigation, plus landing the program in hot water. Not worth it to them. NIL puts everything above board. Recruits prefer it above board as well, they dont have to be sneaky and try to hide the money now. Try telling 18 yr olds that got a bag of 300k cash to keep it secret.

Yes, other schools generally had better recruiters, but the bag schools also had an ace in the hole to land the top players who might have wanted to stay local. Richt was a top national recruiter at UGA when boosters were backing him up with bags, but when he came to UM, his recruiting magic suddenly disappeared. I've been critical of Richts tenure (I think Golden was a better recruiter) , but I'll say this - I think if Richt was healthy and coaching right now, he would have been landing some top classes recruits with NIL.

Absolutely.

Mario is going to get zero credit for recruiting nor building the program back to a championship level.

Not just UF or FSU fans, but the entire national media will attribute our resurrection to John Ruiz and Lifewallet only.

And that’s hypocritical bc they, the fans, were ALL for players getting compensated

Maybe but with an $80 million contract Mario could care less about who gets the credit. He is richer than he could have ever imagined and coaching at his Alma mater. If he returns UM to dominance he won’t care if the credit goes to the mascot, the WEZ or Ruiz. I‘m not sure Mario could have possibly asked for more.

FYI, for all of us who believe John Wooden is the greatest college coach of all time, many still give primary credit to Sam Gilbert, the booster who took care of the UCLA players with money and cars. How did that do for Woden’s reputation?

They have now convinced themselves that Ruiz nailed down Citizen's commitment for Mario at the 11 th hour. Supposedly ponied up $500K in NIL money for him. They claim Citizen called Napier and asked if he could match it which of course he couldn't.....
lol Even IF that were true it means they can't match the money. So either they can't beat our money or they can't beat our recruiting. There's no sugarcoating it. I know they're delusional. But after all these years here I still find myself amazed that they can't just admit they lost a recruiting battle. There's always an excuse.

Funny how fans of schools that traditionally paid players under the table are complaining that we are paying kids over the table.

Part of me can't help but think that their boosters already have buyers remorse and tightened the purse strings to leave him twisting in the wind.

I love it. Let them keep making excuses for why their wonderful Sun Belt coach is all-world. I smell extension.
