Florida shouldn’t ever have to pay the same amount for a recruit as the Miami’s of the world! The university and football program offer tenfold what they can and if our coaches can’t sell those aspects to a recruit I’d be very worried.
I’ll never quite grasp this. If Miami’s football history was really worse than both FSU and UF I would admit that with ease. Every single prominent historical statistic favors miami against Uf and FSU, it’s flat out delusion to think otherwise. Just like I would never bark up the Bama tree. You can argue season to season about a current team/season but history tells the whole story. Miami is the best football program in the state by a large margin. FSU is #2 by a large margin over the gators. How UF fans don’t get this is unbelievable.

Sorry for the rant but I just don’t get that delusional crap

Reality is this guys. We need to expect to lose our fair share of battles to Miami. This isn’t the old recruiting where crooters croot. If you’re good you don’t need the SEC brand to make it. Gainesville is cool and all, but if the money is the same or better kids are gonna go south and fûck bad Miami bîtches. I would probably do the same and I’m a gator lifer

I remember when we used to complain about bags
Good times
Complaining about bags used to have an ethical/fairness component to it (NCAA overlooked it for some and punished others), but now it's just complaining about the new rules, so you can avoid admitting that your coaches/program are bad at adjusting to them. I can understand people like Kansas State making the argument that this new direction isn't fair and is bad for the sport, but Florida? The big, bad "flagship" gators?

Gapier is calling the plays himself. Very manny-esque. And he’s got his buddy as DC? Very golden

You got me thinking... he also alienated recruits by making them send him highlight tapes to keep their UiF offers and pulled in a 3* "hidden gem" with a HS 100m time that you could measure with a sundial. Those feel like Shannon moves.

Could Gapier be some perfect amalgamation of the worst attributes of those 3 stooges? Randalny Shangoldiaz?

“Flagship????” I guess if the new definition of “flagship” is being number three(3) in The Great State of Florida in College Football…😂😭🤣

Funny. I was just talking to someone about this the other day and I said he gives me major Golden vibes

Which is good

He will be just successful enough to prolong the inevitable without being a total dumpster fire they can just walk away from

It’s not going to go well though

Florida, with it's legions of fans filling their on campus stadium every Saturday can't afford NIL deals while lowly Miami, who plays in a half-empty rented stadium is Ted Dibiasse, throwing money around and buying up players just for fun.

Goes to show you exactly how important any of that crap that they make a big deal out of actually is.

I said this much in the gator tears thread. We have the advantage of hindsight because we have gone through 15+ years of horrible football. UF has not - they had their off years but not as bad as we've had it.

We've seen how a coach that's in over his head operates. We know the warning signs and the red flags. Some gator fans see it, many don't. Gotta tell you, G5 coaches RARELY can make the jump successfully to big time football. I'm already seeing bad signs for them and the hope is that Billy wins just enough to keep himself relevant and maybe even gets extended.

It;s the smartest man in the room syndrome that Manny had. Underneath it, is an insecurity. This guy has it.

You nailed it brother

It happens all across sports even at the professional level, but it seems like everyone wants to try and get cute and discover the next big thing, but it’s a fruitless endeavor

It wasn’t bias but I think we all had a good feeling that FSU was ****ed when they hired Willie. I wasn’t entirely sure about Norvell at first, but pretty quickly those red flags popped up

It’s hard to admit when you’re in the middle. I was all in on Golden for a long time. But we’ve become experts at this haha

LOL @ "Gainesville is cool and all"

At least they’ll have a built in excuse of the NIL instead of Mario just dominating Napier on the trail because he’s a better recruiter

Absolutely.

Mario is going to get zero credit for recruiting nor building the program back to a championship level.

Not just UF or FSU fans, but the entire national media will attribute our resurrection to John Ruiz and Lifewallet only.

He lost two guys they had committed to division rival and daddy UGA and two guys to OK from that stunt. Four studs. I said it then and I will say it now, that was an incredibly stupid strategic failure that was a harbinger of things to come. We may look back and see that his decision to alienate them was the beginning of the end for him.

It was an especially absurd move coming from a guy with no P5 HC experience.
In my mind, Billy Gapier is now and forever Randalny Shangoldiaz (pronounced Ran-Dahl-Nee Shan-Gold-E-Asz).
