Side question on A$M....is it $30M over the projected four year life of the 2022 class, or $30M per year? If the latter, A&M will very shortly be spending NFL levels of money on securing its college players.

I mean, in theory, I have no proof that it is 30M each year, or a 30M projection over 4 years, followed by another 30M for next year's signing class, and then a third 30M for the signing cass after that.

But the aTm folks have been bragging about dropping $30M for each recruiting class.

And at a certain point...does it really matter? At some point, in any given year, it will be $7.5M for Class 1, $7.5M for Class 2, $7.5M for Class 3, and $7.5M for Class 4. So very soon, it WILL be $30M per year.

But that doesn't fit with what they want to believe.

Hey, hey, now...both Mario and Gaypier worked at Alabama, so they MUST be equal in ability and talent...though Gaypier should probably get the edge because he didn't lose a bunch of games at FIU before taking the job at Alabama...

Yeah, this is my take as well. The "payroll" will eventually rise to roughly $30M/year, over the course of 4 classes. I think the question is if it would eventually rise to $120M/year, but I feel that would be beyond absurd.

Just in scale. If it’s $30M per year for Class 1, and $33M per year for Class 2, and so on, very quickly you get to between $130 and $150M per year being spent for the college team.

By comparison, Texas and Texas A&M pull in the most annual revenue at $147M per year. So in this scenario, A&M’s foundation is spending as much per year on players as they are making. By comparison the top revenue grossing NFL team is the Dallas Cowboys at $800M, against a mandated salary cap of $202M.

Depending on how absurd A&M wants to take it (and they are fanatical) you could see their NIL spending eclipsing an NFL salary cap in another decade or two.

What don’t these guys understand about the importance of a P5 record vs. G5 record? Mario Cristobal as a P5 coach is a 2X conference champion and has one of the highest win percentages in the country!
Not just that but I think recency is an important factor here too. Focusing on Mario’s record from over 10 years ago while simultaneously ignoring his record at the school he WAS JUST AT reeks of desperation. It’s like saying Jimmy Johnson was a mediocre coach because his record at Oklahoma State wasn’t good while completely ignoring his record at Miami.

But I guess gator fans have been living in 2008 for a long time now so why would they acknowledge anything that’s happened since.

We all love Mario, but this actually makes it sound like P5 is easier than G5. Results on the field will prove Mario>Gaypier.

Gaytor dopes are soooo selective.

Before he got a job with Alabama, Billy Gaypier was FIRED from Clemson. Maybe...just maybe...Gaypier learned a few things at Alabama and is a better coach for having worked under Saban.

But, yeah, they can't extend the same consideration to Mario.
