Just to give you an idea on how delusional the Gaytors are, this is a post from 7 months ago by "Solo Brian". Compare the names and assessments to his disclaimer about how he is trying to be objective and just mention guys who are legitimately interested in the Gaytors...
With the 2016 season winding down, recruiting for 2017 and 2018 is about to pick up again. I thought I would give you all a preview of some of the targets we have been after in the 2018 cycle, as it has not been talked about much. This list does not include all UF targets, just the ones who have shown real interest in the program.
NOTE: I like to keep my posts as objective as possible to avoid giving you all bad information. I also try to avoid commenting on the talent level of specific recruits because quite frankly, I'm not really qualified. If someone with more experience would like to chime in on these recruits' film, feel free to do so!
NOTE2: If you have any formatting suggestions for me I'd love to hear them. I'd be more than happy to add star ratings, quotes from recruits, or whatever else you guys want in order to make this a more enjoyable and informative read.
QB - Artur Sitkowski - Number 4 Pro-style QB prospect from New Jersey who wants to play in the SEC. Earned his offer at this year's Friday Night Lights and has a family connection to Florida. His aunt is a season ticket holder at UF. High on the Gators early
QB - Trevor Lawrence - Number 1 overall recruit for 2018 who is a lean to UGA. However, he has legitimate interest in the Gators, and we will surely make a run at his commitment.
RB - Lorenzo Lingard - Number two RB in the country who has visited UF. His uncle played for the Gators in the 2000s. High on FSU but it is not likely he will land there with James Cook already committed. His recruitment is wide open
RB - Ricky Slade - Number one APB who has already visited UF twice. He is coached by former Gator player Tony Lily who drove him down for Friday Night Lights. Knows Torrian Gray from when he recruited Slade at VT. Look for Florida to be a big player in Slade's recruitment
WR - Jacob Copeland - Number 4 WR in the 2018 class who has Clemson and UF on top. Retweets a lot of pro-Gators content on twitter and describes Florida as his dream school.
WR - Mark Pope - Miami prospect who has been high on Bama, UF, and Miami early. Has visited campus on multiple occassions.
OL - Cleveland Reed - Reed is high on UF early and is transferring in his senior year to play at Lakeland, which is a pro-UF area. Coached by a former Gators player at his previous high school.
OL - William Barnes - Barnes is a big time OL recruit from Apopka, where he played on the OLine with current Gator Martez Ivey
OL - Reuben Unije - Another high profile recruit who likes the Gators early. Has already been on campus. However, Unije visited Alabama earlier this year and nearly committed during his visit.
OL - Curtis Dunlap - IMG Academy recruit who liked the Gators early but has cooled in the past few months.
OL - Kahric Belle - Randy Shannon special right here folks. North Miami Beach prospect who is a late riser. Only holds offers from Kentucky, FAU, NC State, and UF currently.
OL - Dylan Wonnum - Georgia prospect who recently visited UF. His older brother plays for South Carolina.
TE - Jarrett Jackson - Earned an offer at Friday Night Lights and has visited UF for several games this year
TE - Judge Culpepper - Big time UF legacy. His father Brad Culpepper played for UF and in the NFL. His grandfather played center for the Gators. His great uncle played fullback for the Gators. His great grandfather also went to school at UF.
CB - Brendan Radley-Hiles - A prospect from California who is good friends with current commit Elijah Blades and 2017 target Rahyme Johnson. High on the Gators early
CB - Kyler McMichael - Really don't know much about Kyler but he has a crystal ball prediction to UF. Torrian Gray was the first to offer when working at VT, and that relationship has carried over to Gray's tenure with the Gators.
LB/DE - Nik Bonitto - St. Thomas Aquinas dual sport athlete who, for reasons beyond my comprehension, does not yet have an offer from UF. Grew up loving the Gators and says that UF is his "dream school". Constantly posts pro-UF stuff on twitter.
S - Amari Burney - Clearwater speedster standout who has visited UF for the spring game, summer camp, and at least two home games this year. Has played DL, WR, and S in high school and we'll take him wherever he wants to play. Burney keeps his recruitment close to the chest but the sheer number of visits taken to UF shows he's interested.
S - Tyreke Johnson - Number 12 overall prospect from the same school as Shaun Wade. Has visited campus multiple times and claims to have the Gators in his top group
DE - Jonathan King - Rising recruit from the 2018 class who has visited UF and holds an offer. Favors us early but look for his recruitment to heat up after the 2017 cycle
DE - Malcolm Lamar - Armwood DE who grew up liking the Gators. visited UF for the South Carolina game and describes receiving an offer from UF as a dream come true.
DE - Xavier Thomas - Number 2 prospect in 2018 who recently released a top 5 that includes UF. His mom went to UF and her whole side of the family lives in Gainesville. Chris Rumph (DL coach) has a sister-in-law who teaches at Thomas' highschool.
ATH - K'Vaughan Pope - Another 2018 recruit who describes UF as his dream school. He is listed as an ATH but Florida is recruiting him to play LB. Has already visited campus for a game and plans to return for junior day in the spring
ATH - Warren Thompson - Lengthy ATH who projects as a WR in college. High on Miami with UF close behind, but many other schools are still a factor in his recruitment. Has visited UF a couple times already.
ATH - Jermaine Eskridge - Tampa native who projects at WR or CB. Has shown interest in the Gators but his recruitment is wide open
ATH - Justin Watkins - Ocala athlete who projects at WR. Currently an FSU commit but has visited the Gators several times. UF is not willing to give up on his recruit just yet, especially with how close he is to campus.
Overall, UF has gotten a lot of attention from top recruits in 2018. While we currently do not have anyone committed, the 2018 class could be the best in awhile if we land most of our top targets. It says a lot that prospects from South Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, etc have all made trips to Gainesville on their own dime. A strong finish to our season could push a lot of these recruits into making a commitment.
And then take a look at this response from "Zlatandiego":
Awesome content! I'm going to add a few guys that I think we are pressing for in a big way and have returned interest to the staff.
QB - Dorian Thompson-Robinson - Dual threat QB out of powerhouse Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. Like the other two top-100 QB's that we are pushing for, he will have the choice of pretty much every school in the country.
RB - James Cook - Yes, the younger brother of Dalvin. A lot of fans think we are wasting our time with him after the stunt that Dalvin pulled, but there is no denying the talent here. Currently committed to FSU, so maybe Mac is trying to get him to do the flip-flop in reverse.
WR - Brian Hightower - Receivers everywhere are taking notice. He is an IMG guy originally from Calabasas, CA. Likely our top WR target, and there is plenty of mutual interest here.
WR - Jacob Copeland - Mentioned above, but wanted to add this tweet from him yesterday.
WR - Kearis Jackson - Georgia athlete that will likely play receiver. Visited for the Missouri game, and has stated that when he releases a 'top' list, Florida will be on there.
OL - Jamaree Salyer - Was scheduled to visit for the LSU game before it had to be rescheduled. He is one of the top offensive lineman in the country, if not the best. I always want to call him "Slayer". I'm sure some of you read that wrong too, like I have many times. He will likely play guard and is out of Atlanta, GA.
OL - Richard Gouraige - Big offensive tackle target out of Tampa. All of the big schools are interested, but FSU/Auburn might be the two biggest challengers.
OL - Nicholas Petit-Frere - One of the best offensive tackles in the country and right in our recruiting backyard. Has offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Auburn, Miami, UF, and many more. Has visited a few times and the coaches are working on him.
OL - Christian Meadows - FSU commit that is out of Georgia. He committed to FSU right after a camp. He was offered by Florida afterwards and has visited since, definitely interest here and he is keeping his options open.
LB - Teradja Mitchell - Everybody is going to come after him. McElwain and Torrian Gray are both recruiting him. Mitchell is out of Virginia, so Gray might be our biggest asset here.
CB - Tyson Campbell - Out of American Heritage, where a number of our current recruits are from. It would be nice to build a pipeline there. LSU, Miami, FSU, Clemson, and Georgia are all going to be competition here.
There are plenty more names who the coaches are interested in and have big interest in the Gators, but I wanted to add some of the top 100 guys that will play a big roll in next year's recruiting push.
