Proud to see that Lingard is trying to add value to himself after 3 years in college.

Lorenzo can be the skinnier version of Turdbarrel Slaton. A guy the Gaytors get to count as a "blue-chip" while playing a position for which he never earned a blue-chip designation.

Makes sense. The Gaytorz Flipz Machine also flips offensive players into overrated defensive players.

Soooo, thoughts on the Gaytors...

1. Trevonte Rucker - SAWWWFT Gaytor verbal - WR - Ocala - Gaytors #4 best recruit (Rivals) or #7 (247) - seems to be an issue with grades. For once, the Gaytors did something smart in not allowing him to sign, thus if he fails to qualify, they will not lose an IC. Gaytors might be able to salvage something here if they pull Destyn Hill from Louisiana. But Orgeron convinced some LA kids to stay with LSU even in these difficult times, and Gaytors whiffed on all the ESD Gaytor Brand Flipz Machine candidates.

2. Javonte Gardner - OL - Orlando - Gaytors #7 best recruit (Rivals) or #19 (247, guess he didn't get that Gaytor Brand Bump from Bing Bong and Evil Ivins) - seems to be an issue with grades. Again, the Gaytors did not sign him (smart). Again, Gaytors would turn lemons into lemonade if they could get Tristan Leigh out of NoVa.

3. Charles Montgomery - WR/ATH - Tampa - Gaytors #8 best recruit (Rivals) or tied for #10 (247) - not sure what the story is here, may also be grades. If Gaytors lose both Rucker and Montgomery, Destyn Hill only fills one spot. Portal solution would be likely.

4. Deyavie Hammond - Gaytor verbal - OL - Lakeland (HS) and now JuCo - Gaytors #16 best recruit (Rivals) and #22 (247) - not sure what the story is here, as he is a JuCo and should not need GPA/SAT to get in. This is an interesting name to watch, as he was a 2019 Gaytor signee who failed to make it past UF admissions. Thus, I do not believe he counts as a 2021 IC...BUUUUUT, if he fails to make it back to UF, I don't think the Gaytors can just give out his 2019 IC. Gaytors need to work hard to get this kid in, he's a free pass.

5. Adrein Strickland - OL - Gaytor verbal - Panama City - Gaytors second-lowest-rated recruit, just ahead of super-long-snapper Rocco Underwood (Rivals and 247 agree on this) - I would definitely hazard a guess that this kid will be processed out if the Gaytors hit on ANY of their Regular Signing Day Gaytor Brand Flipz Machine candidates. But, as seen above, the Gaytors might be losing THREE long-time OL commits, while only having 1 bullet (Tristan Leigh) in the Flipz chamber (plus Austin Barber). Portal solution(s) seem likely.

6. Tristan Leigh - OL - NoVa - Thirsty Gaytor "recruiting class calculator" nerds would ***** out their mothers to get a 5-star, but UF is not in Leigh's top 5 (and Pops Leigh lives in Oklahoma).

7. Terrion Arnold - DB - Tally - At least the Gaytors made his top 5, but he's likely to join pal Xavian Sorey at UGa.

8. Destyn Hill - WR - Louisiana - Remember how we thought it would be a longshot to pull Maason Smith out of Louisiana?

9. Bryce Langston - DE - Ocala - This one might happen. He's down to UF and LSU, and he IS from the massive Gainesville-Ocala metropolitan statistical area.

10. Portal Portal Portal - go crazy.

Plenty of us rang the alarm. Lingards junior tape was trash. Pope had like less than 600 yds his whole HS career. I really have no idea how that kid even got to 5 stars.

Ain't gonna lie. It's a tough conundrum.

When we recruit a 5-star WR that doesn't have a ton of WR stats (and then he doesn't produce at the college level), our fans destroy our coaches.

When we DON'T recruit a 3-star who plays QB and doesn't have a ton of WR stats (and then he does develop at the college level), our fans destroy our coaches.

Yet...you can't have it both ways (not you personally, just in general).

For decades, we have recruited kids who played on HS teams that didn't showcase their talents properly, didn't throw the ball much, etc. If you could say "Hey, Pope's stats are not great AND the lower-rated kid at the other WR position is producing big results", then I think it would be a red flag. I would also ask a simple question, did Pope have anywhere near the drop-rate in HS that he has in college? Because that would be another valid red flag.

There's no "one answer or one standard fits every situation". Every year, every 4 and 5 star player that we get, at least SOME people come onto the board to talk about flaws. So we will always have "ring the alarm" posts that can be resurrected 3 years later.

Bottom line, the issue we are having with Pope is drops. If anyone can point out the indicators that we ignored on how Pope was inclined to drop passes, feel free to post. Otherwise, all the "he didn't have enough receptions" posts can just be filed away with all the other stupid threads that are being bumped three years after the fact.

Contrary to popular belief guys who CAN play usually get on the field in some capacity. If you’re a former 5 star running back four years removed from high school and still can’t get on the field, it’s because you suck. Or maybe it’s a crazy coincidence that UF’s coaches have the same bias UM fans think their coaches have?

Bad comp. Stats are stats. Position doesn't matter as much as flat out playmaking ability. Pope showed what he was on tape. Charmin soft with the occasional flash of talent mostly due to his speed. Zero physicality which to me will always be a glaring red flag. Same with Lingard if I watch RB film and they arent breaking tons of tackles at the HS level then their ceiling is ultra low IMO. Go back and watch Duke Johnsons HS tape or Dalvin Cooks. They didn't just showcase elite speed they showed elite toughness. 5 stars should be physically overwhelming not just speed but strength and toughness as well.

Again, there is a difference between what the ratings services say and what coaches see on film, in camps, etc.

What I am commenting on are these sweeping generalizations, where people criticize players based solely on stats. At least you are commenting on certain traits seen on film, and that is what is much more relevant.

One of them said he could be a slot? He’s the least natural pass catcher I’ve ever seen on a P5 roster.

He makes Dee Wiggins look like DeAndre Hopkins.

Adam Schefter reported that there are rumors that Mullen would be open to go to the league in a coaching role, would be a blow to the turds in my oppinion. As I said, only rumors but he did a good job with the offense, would help us probably when it comes to offensive recruiting.

If that happens wonder how many of their recruits jump ship even the ones signed already that ask for a release.

No doubt they would target Matt Campbell I bet or dare I say Mario
