Proud to see that Lingard is trying to add value to himself after 3 years in college.

How the **** did we recruit Lingard and Pope in the same class?
How the **** did we miss so badly on 5*s? We're clearly cursed.
Plenty of us rang the alarm. Lingards junior tape was trash. Pope had like less than 600 yds his whole HS career. I really have no idea how that kid even got to 5 stars.
Bad comp. Stats are stats. Position doesn't matter as much as flat out playmaking ability. Pope showed what he was on tape. Charmin soft with the occasional flash of talent mostly due to his speed. Zero physicality which to me will always be a glaring red flag. Same with Lingard if I watch RB film and they arent breaking tons of tackles at the HS level then their ceiling is ultra low IMO. Go back and watch Duke Johnsons HS tape or Dalvin Cooks. They didn't just showcase elite speed they showed elite toughness. 5 stars should be physically overwhelming not just speed but strength and toughness as well.Ain't gonna lie. It's a tough conundrum.
When we recruit a 5-star WR that doesn't have a ton of WR stats (and then he doesn't produce at the college level), our fans destroy our coaches.
When we DON'T recruit a 3-star who plays QB and doesn't have a ton of WR stats (and then he does develop at the college level), our fans destroy our coaches.
Yet...you can't have it both ways (not you personally, just in general).
For decades, we have recruited kids who played on HS teams that didn't showcase their talents properly, didn't throw the ball much, etc. If you could say "Hey, Pope's stats are not great AND the lower-rated kid at the other WR position is producing big results", then I think it would be a red flag. I would also ask a simple question, did Pope have anywhere near the drop-rate in HS that he has in college? Because that would be another valid red flag.
There's no "one answer or one standard fits every situation". Every year, every 4 and 5 star player that we get, at least SOME people come onto the board to talk about flaws. So we will always have "ring the alarm" posts that can be resurrected 3 years later.
Bottom line, the issue we are having with Pope is drops. If anyone can point out the indicators that we ignored on how Pope was inclined to drop passes, feel free to post. Otherwise, all the "he didn't have enough receptions" posts can just be filed away with all the other stupid threads that are being bumped three years after the fact.

And Michigan in the same bowl a couple of years ago.I think it’s funny that UF had no problem talking after beating a depleted Georgia team, but makes excuses when it happens to them.
My suggestion would be to figure out how those benches are made since that’s where you spend most of your time...might be a career in making them cause you got no shot at a football one.
Adam Schefter reported that there are rumors that Mullen would be open to go to the league in a coaching role, would be a blow to the turds in my oppinion. As I said, only rumors but he did a good job with the offense, would help us probably when it comes to offensive recruiting.
