Why are you so mean, these kids can go off to Hogtown and enjoy a WIDE RANGE of international fast food, from Taco Bell (Mexican) to Panda Express (Chinese) to Panera (******) to Chick Fil-A (American) to McDonald's (Scottish).
Not to mention they can "see the world" by taking international flights out of BOTH of the airport gates at the KKK-ainesville Airport.

All those trips to exotic urban centers such as Athens and Lexington and Columbia (TWO of them!) and Tuscaloosa and Fayetteville and Auburn and Baton Rouge and Oxford and Starkville and College Station.
Good lord, why would anyone choose to "stay at home" in Miami when they can see THAT world?

the only thing ill defend with athens is that its within an hour and half of atlanta or so. orlando is essentially archer road turned into a city of franchise options

Easy there, I can show you some great non-touristy towns within the Orlando area.
But I take your point on the ATL. I just included Athens because it has an international-SOUNDING name.

i know there are some great spots away from the tourist haven closer to DT (viet town, colonial town area, mills 50, milk district, hour glass, etc.)
