Garcia on the move again

I don't get why anybody thinks it's a bad thing that he actually wants to play football.

California said no high school football in 2020 so he moved to a different state because he wants to play.
The county would not accept his transfer at Valdosta high school (still don't understand why) so now he's at a school where he can actually play.

He's not transferring to all these schools because he's some kind of diva. He just wants to play football and neither of his previous two schools would allow him to play. If anything, his willingness to do anything to get on the field should be viewed as a positive. I mean he could just take the easy route and not play at all this year. He's already got offers from a bunch of places and is committed to USC. It's not like he needs to prove anything. He just wants to play.

Also, just in case some of you guys are unaware, most of the top south Florida high school kids change schools two or three times nowadays.

Hmm, that;s one way to look at it. I'm never a fan of a kid bouncing from school to school especially if he's being guided by handlers/parents. I get how he really wants to play, but I dunno man.

this thing smells like week old tuna

He should have just transferred to a prep/catholic school. Public school systems are always ***king with kids eligibility throughout the country.

The kid is literally doing whatever he can to play this year but we’re clowning him.
It’s not like he’s committed to 3 programs like Chatman or Derrick Hunter.
Not saying he’s the program savior but at least he’s trying. Do know the reason or reasons behind it. It could be as simple as he wants a better offer or wants to get better

There are likely other kids That would like to do the same but can’t. Or some that are already dong it but we do t know about it. Maybe people on here that live in Cali can confirm.

The story from Garcia today on the USC site:

USC quarterback commit Jake Garcia isn't giving up on his hopes of playing his senior high school season in Georgia.

Garcia, who initially transferred from La Habra High School once the California Interscholastic Federation moved the football season to January, played one game for Valdosta (Ga.) HS last month before being ruled ineligible by the Georgia High School Association. And now he plans to transfer again to Grayson HS in Loganville, Ga., he confirmed.

Garcia is not expected to be formally enrolled at Grayson until at least Wednesday.

"I feel like that gives me the best opportunity to prepare for college and give Coach Harrell and Coach Helton the best version of me," Garcia said in an exclusive interview with TrojanSports.com.

So what's different playing across the state at Grayson HS, another premier high school football program in Georgia?
"You have kids like Carlos Del Rio or Chief Borders, both Florida commits, who have transferred and they were not eligible at the high school they transferred to, but as soon as they transferred again they were eligible," Garcia said. "So I guess that's just the way GHSA works -- it's a little bit different than CIF -- so that's how that came about."
Del Rio, who coincidentally initially transferred from McEachern HS to Grayson HS this year only to be ruled ineligible for the same reason as Garcia, later transferred again to Cartersville (Trevor Lawrence's alma mater), where he made his debut last Friday.
So it would seem there is an opening for Garcia to find both eligibility and playing time at Grayson, but he wasn't making any public assumptions.

"I just want to be a contributor on the team. I know I have to play my role, which is coming in, not knowing the system, having to learn the system, having to build chemistry with the players and coaches, so I'm just going to play my role and hope for the best. But overall we need to win a state championship."

In addition to trying to salvage his senior high school season, Garcia remains a buzz-worthy recruiting topic for USC fans as Miami continues to make a very public and consistent push to flip his commitment.

Garcia told TrojanSports.com this week, as he has maintained throughout the process, that he is not wavering on his decision.

"[The Miami coaches have] reached out and they keep reaching out, the fans stay on top of it, but nothing has changed and they know that I'm still committed," Garcia said. "I know coach Rhett Lashlee and coach [Manny] Diaz wants to see the best for me, so no matter where I go -- every coach is going to say that to you, 'No matter where you go I'll support you' -- but I genuinely feel like wherever I go they'll support me, and that will be at 'SC and I know they'll be watching me and that they'll be supporting me throughout it all."

Garcia said he has not taken any further visits to Miami this fall -- while prospects can't take official or school-initiated visits, many have taken it upon themselves to go on self-guided tours to check out campuses. Garcia has been to Miami before so that was not a pressing need this fall, and he said he has not done so.

Meanwhile, Trojans fans who worry about Garcia staying in this USC recruiting class were especially curious last week when the Trojans offered yet another 2021 quarterback in fast-rising 3-star Corner Canyon HS (Draper, Utah) prospect Jaxson Dart, despite already having commitments from both Garcia and fellow 4-star QB Miller Moss.

Garcia said the matter came up in his most recent discussion with Helton this past week, although he said he didn't bring it up.

"My thing is always iron sharpens iron, so no matter who comes in, I think we'll push each other and push each other to be better, which makes the team better. I think that would be a really good quarterback room. So I'm not mad about it and I definitely understand. Whether he comes or not, that's up to him, but if he does we're just going to make each other better," Garcia said.

"[Helton] explained it to me. I didn't ask, but he explained it to me before I even asked anything."

Garcia reiterated, "No, it does not affect my situation."

Garcia was actually back in California this past week to visit his mother and work out with his personal quarterback coach Danny Hernandez.
It was important for Garcia to get some work in with Hernandez as he hasn't been practicing with Valdosta HS since he was ruled ineligible.

Hopefully the kid has the heart of a lion and head of a wise man, and won't get in the least ruffled by fan reactions. But here's my take: Derrick Crudup's dad, Robert Marve's dad, Jacory Harris' dad, Kevin Olsen's dad, Jarren Williams' dad. ... And none of them filed a paper divorce so their kid could transfer. That's a whole new level.

Sure, he may only be doing this because he just loves football, and is already signed and sealed so doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. The other possibility is the Josh Jobe scenario, where Rumph carried the kids bag up to prep so he could be ready to play for Miami. But what he really wanted was the $EC offer from Bama and all the perks that come with it. Moving to Georgia is no coincidence to me. Miami is plan B or C. I'd run not walk away.

I'm a fan. Lashlee and he are the only two guys that ultimately determine his capabilities and character to be a Cane. And if he comes to Miami, I'll 100% support him and hope for the best. But who doesn't see these red flags?

Also the thing people are missing about Garcia's numerous transfers is its not just this Georgia situation, when he was in Cali he transferred from 3 different schools too from his Freshman to Junior year.

He played at Narbonne, Long Beach Poly, La Habra & then went back to Narbonne & that was all before this year ever happened. This kid has played at more High Schools than Akeem Dent lol.

Maybe he really does love Football, but there's nothing but drama every year with this kid looking for a new school.

Why couldn't this be about his fellow USC QB commit so we could have more photos of the mom?

This guy transfers because he wants to play football but you all don’t criticize SoFL kids who transfer and play at 3 different high schools. Very confusing....

And a lot of South FL prospects are divas and tough to deal with so what’s your point?

And explain the 3 Cali schools that Garcia went to even before he moved to GA?

Everyone has a plan until a third QB commit (The equivalent of getting punched in the face).
