Let me preface this by saying I don't think Gall knows anything more about these situations than anyone on here does. I doubt that he's in close contact with all these guys and that they're telling him their business.
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, Keith Bryant is one of those guys who gets corches fired because it's almost impossible to pass him up. Yet, when you sign him and too many guys like him you get fired because, invariably, guys like Keith bust. It's real man business on the interior lines in football. If you don't bring your lunch pail to work with you, then you will get your puzzy pounded by the men who do. It's really that simple. Talent will only get you so far when we're talking about interior linemen.
Look no farther than Marcus Fartspin as the prime example. The 2 or 3 times that he showed up to play during his career at UM he was special (ND bowl, and Vag Tech games come to mind). The rest of the time he was garbage, and he got whipped out there. I can assure you that Keith is not more physically talented than Fartspin. Based on his sub-par effort during his senior season, his me-first nonsense during recruiting and now reportedly showing up to all-star practice out of shape, this is the type of dude who kills corches.
Sad thing is that we almost have to stay on him because there aren't many other options. This is one of those deals where if there were other options or we weren't in such desperate need of DTs, I'd drop him like a hot potato. I know the majority of dudes on here enjoy his clown show during the recruiting process, but I'm not a big fan of interior linemen with questionable work ethic and a seeming starvation for attention.
Great post. And the sad thing about Forston is that he committed to UM early, never wavered, and recruited his *** off for this program. IMO a guy like Forston succeeds under Al Golden but his attitude was too ****ed up by time Golden got here. Bryant is a less-talented kid doing the opposite for a coach that will make him work 1000% time harder, and won't be forced to play him.
That said I hope to **** that we sign Keith Bryant.
