What other DT's are we even recruiting outside Bostwick?
Or he could turn out to be Louis Nix...
You still take recruit the **** out of him.
Most DTs these days are flakes.. It's a crap shoot

Franchise, I think you said exactly what a few of us have been thinking, but refrained from posting. Solid.

Was Nix really that much of a flake.
I've read several posts from folks likening Bryant's games to Nix's recruitment.
I don't see it that way.
Nix committed to us and then simply flipped over to NLame.
I don't remember him making too much noise and drama.
He changed his mind, and that was that.
I think the DLine recruit who kind of went Diva during the process was the late Bryan Pata.
He was an OK for us, perhaps a mild bust but then again so was most of the players on that
team thanks to the clowns running that program.
Thread should be titled "Alex Gall Throwing **** Against The Wall"
It's definitely not gospel, but I don't get the point in trying to devalue or hate on Alex Gall giving some predictions. I appreciated reading it. If you think a committed recruit (who interacts with our coaches on a weekly basis, interacts with other recruits, and has even tried to recruit some of these players listed) giving his predictions is worthless, then what should we think every time you post on the recruiting board? Do you interact with coaches, recruits, etc?
Didn't see any "hate" in what he said. Simply said he's throwing sh2t at the wall, which is what he's doing. There's nothing wrong with the Gall's Guesses segment, but some aren't willing to put much stock in it.

Exactly how I remember Nix. Don't remember the diva game with him. I understand what guys are doing with Bryant because I do it often myself--they're trying to put a positive spin on this Bryant deal. They're attempting to draw parallels to guys who have had success. The unfortunate element here is that there are a dozen bad exemplars for every good one that they might propose.
Let me preface this by saying I don't think Gall knows anything more about these situations than anyone on here does. I doubt that he's in close contact with all these guys and that they're telling him their business.
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, Keith Bryant is one of those guys who gets corches fired because it's almost impossible to pass him up. Yet, when you sign him and too many guys like him you get fired because, invariably, guys like Keith bust. It's real man business on the interior lines in football. If you don't bring your lunch pail to work with you, then you will get your puzzy pounded by the men who do. It's really that simple. Talent will only get you so far when we're talking about interior linemen.
Look no farther than Marcus Fartspin as the prime example. The 2 or 3 times that he showed up to play during his career at UM he was special (ND bowl, and Vag Tech games come to mind). The rest of the time he was garbage, and he got whipped out there. I can assure you that Keith is not more physically talented than Fartspin. Based on his sub-par effort during his senior season, his me-first nonsense during recruiting and now reportedly showing up to all-star practice out of shape, this is the type of dude who kills corches.
Sad thing is that we almost have to stay on him because there aren't many other options. This is one of those deals where if there were other options or we weren't in such desperate need of DTs, I'd drop him like a hot potato. I know the majority of dudes on here enjoy his clown show during the recruiting process, but I'm not a big fan of interior linemen with questionable work ethic and a seeming starvation for attention.
I disagree on Bryant/Nix. There were numerous reports out of Jacksonville from people who saw Nix play who said he was fat, lazy, unproductive, and living off the reputation he had as a junior. The diva stuff I don't remember, but he was definitely showing some bust-warning signs.
The truth is that talented defensive tackles are, for the most part, fat ********. They take plays off in high school, get out of shape, and don't study. That's one of the reason why defensive line recruiting is such a crapshoot. Even Butch Davis took half a decade to put together a great one. Remember how we all prayed for Adrian Wilson to stop being a ****-up?
There's only so many of those talented big men walking the earth. You just need to sign enough talented ******** until you find the right ones.
After I read your post I immediately thought of Jerome Brown and Warren Sapp. LOL Interesting and welcomed perspective.

Agreed all around.
It wouldn't surprise me if Bostwick got on the field sooner at UM and worked harder too.
Put it this way: I'll be a lot more surprised if Bryant turns out to be a high-level DT than I will if he busts. This guy's got bust written all over him. Again, though, the sad thing is that we almost have to stay on him. Tough situation to be in.

A post that does nothing but discourage the OP from providing such material the next time just seems unnecessary and much less of a contribution than the Gall's educated guesses which likely hold at least as much weight as just about anyone's guesses on this board.

Could totally see Bryant transferring out of FSU in a couple years.
The bryant news is disappoint. We need DTs.
