Gabe Terry arrested...

His juvenile record should be sealed. Thus making this a first offense as an adult, and given his broken home back ground and that he hopefully was a model student, he will get a pretrial diversion program of community service I am talking probably like 1000 - 2000 hr of community service, which would take about 3 yrs, and random drug tests. He would be the perfect person to do out reach to at risk youth, because he is one.

So I am thinking AG takes him back, because to turn this kd loose given his past would be debating to him.

I'm not opposed to second chances under STRICT supervision. But, ***** up then and I'm in favor of a year in jail--in jail someplace like King Salmon, AK.

Puts me in conflict with the stoners here who think it's a minor issue, and who are undoubtedly high achievers.:ohlord:

Way to paint everyone who thinks drug laws are a joke as stoners and underachievers you bigoted **** face. People like you make me sick. All high and mighty looking down on people who smoke weed, probably all the while forcing half a keg down your throat at a tail gate party. Just because someone is opposed to draconian, useless, self driven drug laws written in nobodies interest except politicians, law enforcement BUSINESS, and the corrections BUSINESS, does not make them a stoner nor an underachiever.

NEGGED.

Thanks for the opinion. I see where you're coming from. So please highlight the "everyone" in my post?

PS. I don't drink much not because I'm better than anyone else (well, maybe better than the "fans" who can't make it to the end of the fourth quarter), but only because I get sleepy after one beer in the sun, a half keg really! :ibisroflmao:

While I don't share LACanes vigor in berating you, I do agree that you took a shot at a fairly large swath of the South Florida population and Canes fan base with your comment. I am aware of quite a few successful "stoners" with doctorates, including a few Iron Arrow members, that would question your logic. Ruining a kids life over 40 dollars worth of a drug that is less dangerous and debilitating than more commonly used "legal" drugs like Alcohol and prescription medication isn't really a legitimate position to take on this matter IMO.

You might wanna step off your high horse on this subject cause you are closer to wrong than right on this one.

Bruh who's your hook?? I would kill for 28 grams for $40, That's about $350 pimp. Not saying he's a big baller, but it's not like he just had a dime bag on him. Campus police did the right thing. At the end of the day, the kid committed a FELONY on a college campus, you can't just ignore that.

edit: the part about the campus police is directed at the person who said they should cut him a break, not you btw.

What makes you think Gabe had Krippy on him?

I'm hopin old boy wasn't running around with that schwagg!! LOL

Get off your high horse and Calm the **** down. He was smoking weed not robbing a bank.

He got arrested for something that shouldn't even be illegal and that 70% of college kids in america do. So let's stop acting like he's some kind of degenerate loser.

magic number is 28

it seems over 20 grams gets an f on your record, making 20 the magic number. you have to be retarded to be buying less than pounds to slang if you are over 20 grams.

sucks that his life is ruined (thanks to aweful legislation, nice work the south), tough if not impossible to get financial aid with a drug related felony so college is probably out for him, and so is any job over minimum wage.
but you get what you deserve.

Please. Dude ruined his own life. Wake up. He obviously didn't care. Total waste. Well on his way to society supporting him for the rest of his life.

He is a loser.

He comes from a background where both his parents are in jail. He had a way out of that life handed to him on a silver platter with his God-given athletic talent. He knew what he had to do to get there, it says right there in his interview: stay clean and work hard.

The kid ****ed away his only shot. That makes him a loser who couldn't rise above his circumstances.

Says the loser who spends way too much time on a message board. It doesn't make him a loser, it makes him um......A 19 YEAR OLD COLLEGE KID!

Life isn't all rah rah cis boom bah, its not cut and dry, or black and white. He ****ed up, his life is not over for it. His future with the team is in jeopardy, but to say he ****ed away his only shot is a joke.

He had an easy road to become a successful man. All he had to do is stay clean and work hard and listen to his coach. The young man blew his shot. Now he'll end up like his parents, and who will pity him?

I hate to see people waste their talent. Gabe Terry had a world of God-given talent that he could have done something with, instead he chose crime.

I feel bad for Al Golden for believing in Gabe Terry. If you listen to his early interviews, he was always gushing about how great Gabe was gonna be, and how he was gonna rise above his circumstances.

Gabe let Al Golden down big time, and I really feel bad for Golden. I hope Gabe Terry knows he let someone down who really believed in him and really wanted to give him a shot when others wouldn't.

He was more interested in a little bit of fun, being cool, or maybe making a buck, than he was in honoring his scholarship, his coach, his team, and his school. It is very likely this was his first time and the white kids led him astray. Just the kind of player you want on your team.

But it's okay because of how and where he was raised excuses everything. Give him a break he is going to be NFL caliber (where he will avoid temptation). Right, no personal responsibility. But it's a stretch that it will lead to a life of crime because it doesn't work that way, he could get elected president! Look how much support he has here. We should all want this kid released from the pressure that comes with a free ride to the U.

Bring in a hard working JUCO kid who's figured out the opportunity of playing for the U to fill his slot and what's-his-name will be forgotten before the next season ends.

I could be wrong, but it sure looks that way from my lofty perch.

I'mma be heated if ol boy gets the boot from the squad. The Nebraskan Assassin is one of my favorite players.

You sir continue to make GIANT LEAPS from small comments. I'm not saying we shouldn't make Gabe earn his way back or making excuses for why it is ok for this to happen. He has been awarded a privilege for his athletic abilities and he should respect that and conduct himself in a respectful manner. Regardless, life of crime off of a accidental pot arrest is absurd. Kid passed out and reacted aggressively when abruptly woken up in his car. I've been robbed at gunpoint after I passed out in a car in Miami. Campus or not I don't believe his reaction upon being woken up was inexcusable. The weed? No excuse. If I was a scholarship athlete I wouldn't blaze but, life of crime is still a knee jerk statement.

For most of us the opportunity Gabe has would be a dream come true but, let's not get it twisted. As a person of above average intelligence to whom learning comes easy, I have always felt I would not trade my intelligence for the "measurables" of a world class athlete. I don't look down on Gabe because he is not taking advantage of this great opportunity, instead I pity him because he is letting it slip away.

Gabe was a state champion wrestler and that takes a measure of dedication. I don't think we should throw the towel in on him just yet and I don't think Golden feels that way either, regardless of what happened this week.

what I don't understand is why he didn't have his boys as back up. the ones who would make sure he wouldn't just pass out at a public place?

the strength of the wolf is the pack.

the president did not have his pack with him that night, and it cost him BIG.

I hope he gets a second chance but not sure about his past transgressions? Mary Jane is gonna be legal almost entirely in our country before long!!

the strength of the wolf is the pack.

Now this is the Law of the Jungle --
as old and as true as the sky;
And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper,
but the Wolf that shall break it must die.

The strength of the pack is the wolf... It goes both ways.

I don't know how many more times you cut Gabe some slack. Truly a shame as I think we all liked him.

My guess is Al goes to bat for him one more time if he is currently meeting his ccommitments in the classroom.

If he is doing poorly with his academics then he will be calling EJ for references on community colleges.

Gabe's a f#cking moron. If he hasn't been booted yet (I just read the first page before posting), he'll be gone in a day or two. He got the chance of a lifetime after spending years in Boys Town or wherever the fugg he was in Nebraska, and he re-pays The Don and UM by continually ****ing in our faces. It's a shame that he's either ****-bent on being a stupid f#cking loser, or he's just had zero guidance and doesn't know any better. I know he's had a tough upbringing, but at some point that becomes a lame excuse for a guy who insists on being a dumb f#ck.

Worst thing is that he had the potential to be a really great player here.

he was arrested not convicted. He will be charged and make a quick deal, if his attorney thinks its a slam dunk. He will not be serving time. The university will decide second chance or not. I have seen enough to know that each kid is a case by case. Wait and see....

If this was an isolated incident, he'd get another shot. Unfortunately, he's been in jams the whole time he's been here. He's done.

He didn't get arrested for smoking pot, dummy. He got arrested for passing out in public and then getting in a fighting stance and having to be tasered to be controlled. Had he just smoked some pot in a house he never would have had an issue.

And who gives a **** if you feel it shouldn't be illegal. The fact of the matter is, it's illegal!

If you're gonna smoke weed, whatever, at least be smart enough not to get caught with it in public. You have to be a supreme dumbass to get caught with weed.

There were a dozen levels of dumb and arrogant in what Gabe did. The problem isn't the pot. It's being dumb enough to pass out in public and then get in a fighting stance when confronted by the cops. Dude's a dumb, arrogant f#ck, and he blew the chances UM has given him. This isn't even close to being his first transgression at UM.
