Future QB battle

Some of you dudes are putting way too much emphasis on running because we're all so sick of Kaaka's cement feet. We need a QB who knows the playbook inside out and knows where everyone is and what they're supposed to be doing and is accurate with the football. If we have a guy who is lost out there throwing it to the wrong spot with no command of the offense we'll be sunk.

We'll know about Allison in the spring game. He'll have had a year in the offense. I know he'll only be a RS-Frosh, but QB's seem to either have "it" or they don't. Good QB's will still make freshman mistakes, but overall, they should show that they can run the offense and make the reads and throws. Say what you will, but Kaaya immediately proved he could run the offense. There's no reason Allison shouldn't be able to do the same, running vanilla plays against a vanilla defense in the spring game.

Can't sleep on Shirreffs either.

People need to stop confusing "running QB" with "QB that can run".

Perry isn't a running QB, he's just a modern QB that can take off when the pocket breaks down. Anyone watching college football right now should realize that it is absolutely vital that a QB can move their feet.

The best overall QBs in college right now are DeShaun Watson, Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold and they all can move.

Lamar Jackson isn't as developed as a passer but the threat of his legs opens up the passing game for Louisville.

Jake Browning can move and threw for 40+ TDs.

Looking back at the last 5 years, every successful college quarterback has been able to run when needed. Manziel, Luck, Winston, Mariota, etc.

We are probably 11-1 this season and playing Clemson for the ACC Title if Kaaya was able to run AT ALL.

You have to be an ELITE qb like Brady, Brees, Manning etc to be a statue back there and be successful. Too many situations where the pocket collapses in your face not to be. The reason those guys are successful is because they can make throws in tight coverage with precision and make them quickly.

Except for the fact they aren't statues back there. These guys have some of the BEST pocket presence in the history of the game and get rid of the ball lightning quick. It's why they are among the fewest sacked every year.

Yup. Being able to move better than a paralyzed Dan Marino would be nice bonus.

Steve Morris and Brad Kayaa both had a perpetual limp.

Kinda sad to watch.

This.

Mofos acting like all we need is a qb that can run and it's title time.

Seriously its not complicated let the best man win. Kaaya was a very good passer with terrible feet and most likely they will all be better at that but who's Accurate, who do the players respond best to, who masters the playbook the best, who shows outstanding leadership, who do you feel gives you the best chance next seasonwweek 1. Doesn't matter if it's Allison, Rosier, Perry or Weldon they have enough talent all around just get the best player to lead

People put way, way, way too much emphasis on "intangibles" and mental garbage especially at the QB position.

SMH @ people talking about "leadership" and "who do players respond to" and "winning the locker room" and "knowing the playbook" and "command of the offense" etc

That stuff may be true in the NFL, but in high school and college you go with the best ATHLETE period. Athletes win football games

That is Perry if you look at the film and it ain't close. Perry could be very special here

Well let's give Perry the job! What a crazy concept it is for the quarterbacks to actually compete and you know earn the position

Perry is more like Russell Wilson or Aaron Rogers in comparison to being a mobile QB with his eyes always down the field, looking to get the ball in the playmakers hands and limiting the risk of many hits and possible injuries.
