If Allison is as good as his ranking coming out of HS he should win the job. He had a full year under Richt and should have a pretty good grasp of the O.

Ill take the optimistic route and say if he doesnt win the battle it means one of the two Frosh are just that good.

I honestly don't know why people don't think he can't be the next in line, or are overlooking him. I want him over Perry. He had his year to learn, which is the norm for most QBs in todays game, and he seems like a guy who takes his job serious. He has 9 months to be ready to lead this team. PLENTY of time to get ready.

I just hope the staff isn't intoxicated over the trend of running quarterbacks to the point of overlooking a potentially quality pro style
traditional Miami QB like Allison. Sure Watson is fun to watch. In my opinion the Louisville QB will lead them nowhere. The test for Allison should be that he can run and slide when he needs to if he has the arm and brains we think he has.

Does Allison offer any mobility? I don't recall from watching his HS highlight clips two years ago.

if allison has minimal athletic ability he will be leaps and bounds better than kaaya in that department. the read option with kaaya was pretty much the worst play in the playbook.

Not sure which running QB you're referring to on our future roster.

There seems to be a misconception on this board that Perry is a D. Watson type QB. He has some solid athleticism but is not a running QB by any means. He ran for 97 total yards this past season (averaging 1.8 ypc) and 287 yards last season (averaging 3 ypc).

What Perry does have (that is his best asset IMO) is special pocket mobility. He seems to have a good feel for pressure and is elusive behind the LOS while keeping his eyes downfield. He seems to have some open field running ability but is nothing like a Watson or Lamar Jackson in that regard. He's a lot more like a Teddy Bridgewater or Jameis with regards to running ability.

We don't need a mobile qb like Watson necessarily.

Kaaya was just running in quicksand, we just need a QB that can escape the pocket like Big Ben or even old Tony Romo from 5 years ago. Just being elusive adds a dimension that this team needs with the struggling OL.

I've been wondering about this. Kid was hyped out of HS and most were pleased we got him, so why is he now crap? A dude who hasn't had a single college practice is now seen as far superior. I get that Perry is the kind of player Richt wants, but why are people on here down on Jack?

Because there is talk of accuracy issues and he is still raw. And i think because he is more of a pocket passer and kaaya wasnt mobile a lot of people are just lumping him in with kaaya.

Also, didn't Allison have a subpar senior season?

I know I'm shaky on Allison because he didn't do anything in high school his senior year to deserve any hype

Total Passing Yards 1622
Passing TDs 18
Passing Yards/Game 180.2
Pass Completions 131
Pass Attempts 217
Interceptions 14

Any video?

Not video, but below is an ESPN blurb on his size and mobility.

"Possesses prototypical measurables that you look for a pocket passer. Possesses excellent height certainly looks the part. Is an above average athlete for his style of play with adequate foot speed and pocket mobility and buy second passing chances. Is not going to be a wow you type of player when things break down, but he can efficiently gain positive momentum"

Those are his Junior stats, his senior stats are below. They don't impress either, but I'm wondering if he played in a run first offense or if he just isn't that good? I just don't know why every service had him rated highly with these stats.

Total Passing Yards 1450
Passing TDs 11
Pass Completions 125
Pass Attempts 201
Interceptions 5
