Fun Fact about Wisconsin OL

Op not coming at ya bro but technically we probably have one of the youngest offense line in the NCAA by experience and class.

I see where you getting at though. We all just gotta hope for the better and right now IDK if we really have any options in this season?
"Sometimes the kid in neighborhood that keeps getting picked on and bullied, Will have to take matters in their own hands and make a statement."
US CANES FANS are like Dads metaphorically speaking -Painful to watch but we have to sit on our hands and see if this will happen...

Go Canes!!!!
VT started two Frosh OL against Canes a couple of weeks ago. Canes are young but so are many more teams with young OL too...

Miami could recruit all 5 stars this year and their offensive line wouldn’t come close to Wisconsin for a few years.

The most experienced lineman at Miami is Tommy Kennedy (3rd string senior). Followed by overweight and regressing Donaldson (starting Junior) . Traore (2nd string Sophomore who played JUCO) has the next most starting experience. After that it’s Scaife then Gaynor.

This team is years away from having offensive line depth.

It takes time, patience, and development to get anywhere close to what Wisconsin has.

The difference is usually when teams have young guys starting on the offensive line they are surrounded by juniors and seniors (often redshirt juniors and redshirt seniors). They are often backed up by experienced or developed juniors and seniors.

Miami is fine in my opinion to trot out sophomores and freshman but they need guys to lean on and learn from. Today Miami has zero guys like that. The closest guy to a leader might be Gaynor and he is hardly a wily veteran.

We recruit a 4 star and redshirt him people here lose their minds that we don’t know how to recruit or develop.
If we recruit a state champion shot putter and say we’re gonna develop him so he can start in 2 years people will complain about how bama or Clemson doesn’t do that so why are we paying people to recruit and that Barry is a failure beyond belief.
Only thing that makes people happy here is 5 stars that start as freshman then complain about how our coaching staff couldn’t evaluate or get him ready to play against grown men

No, we just want an o-line that can block good.

It ain’t more complicated than that

Wisconsin’s starting offensive line:
2 were WALK-ONS with ZERO #FBS OFFERS
2 were 0 star rated (247)
3 threw shot put over 57-feet
3 threw discus over 160-feet
4 were 3-sport HS athletes
All were HS multi-sport athletes

One thing I notice about a majority of s.fla athletes is under developed they're physically. Especially oline and dline

Our upperclassmen suck too, guys.

Exactly. Outside of Scaife, there isn’t one decent OL on this team. **** it says something about the guys like Hillery, Dykstra, and Herbert when true freshman(who haven’t even played well) start over them. Big time 4* Herbert from good ol’ South Florida... what a joke. Also don’t get me started on Donaldson. 5* stud they say... No he’s always been a slow foot OL. In high school, he was bigger than everyone so it made him look dominant. Dude is too slow for P5 college football. ****, he’s too slow for G5 college football. Better hope Barry starts developing the younger guys because the OL recruiting doesn’t look all that good right now.

Didn’t sta have an oline LT dude that was a pretty good wrestler? Anyone know where he ended up at?

Not sure who you're referencing, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's doing pretty good. Football and wrestling and football go hand-in hand. Would like to see us recruit more players who grind on the mats.

Nor surprised about the wrestling translation. I played optimist football for several years and wrestled in middle school. You learn a lot about leverage and balance. Some guys are naturally gifted with balance and strength and wrestling teaches how to use it. Endurance is also a byproduct of wrestling.

That and a whole lot more.

My favorite Cane of all time, Ray lewis, was an all state wrestler.

There are a lot of great examples of guys who wrestled that have had stellar NFL careers.

Here are a few:

Warren Sapp
Bo Jackson
Ronnie Lott
Tiki Barber
Lorenzo Neal

I can go on and on.

Wrestling and the Oline connection is obvious. Balance is hugely important and wrestling teaches natural controlled aggression.

Also out of every linemen on our team the only one who’d sniff Wisconsin’s two see is Scaife.
