Fun Fact about Wisconsin OL

We recruit a 4 star and redshirt him people here lose their minds that we don’t know how to recruit or develop.
If we recruit a state champion shot putter and say we’re gonna develop him so he can start in 2 years people will complain about how bama or Clemson doesn’t do that so why are we paying people to recruit and that Barry is a failure beyond belief.
Only thing that makes people happy here is 5 stars that start as freshman then complain about how our coaching staff couldn’t evaluate or get him ready to play against grown men
The problem is we cant recruit with Bama or Clemson so we're going to have to improvise or stay a **** team forever. If something doesn't work you change it, it's time.

You'll never believe this........they have great COACHING

but we have great corching
and the rings and the chains
maybe we should come up with the protection cape and give it to the lineman who doesn't give up a sack on each drive

they are big boys by the time they start. I mean, its too fing cold to go outside. the only thing to do is stay inside, eat, workout and have ***

The problem is we've had to rely on our OL recruits waaaaaay to early. The last time we had a good OL those guys played young, took their lumps, and blossomed a few years later. Right now we roll with 2 true frosh, 1 true soph, 1 RS Soph, and a junior. The other problem we have is because we have to play our guys young out of necessity we play guys out of position IMO.

OL takes time. Usually on a good OL 1 of your 5 are your types that come in and start as frosh and do well for years to come and the rest are older, mature players. Not on our OL. Our oldest guy who is our highest rated and should be a mauler just gets destroyed way too much for us to be successful

I completely agree with what Wisconsin is doing.
But idk if we have the fan base or if recruits are gonna roll with hat concept. It’s a different mentality in the Midwest west people actually have a lifestyle where you have to put work in the land or farm to get results. The whole mentality is he’s work and patience. I would love to have an oline full of athletic 6’6 dudes with no gut that can push a **** trailer up a hill.

Speaking of the Big Ten:
  • Iowa's entire starting offensive line wrestled in high school, finishing third place or better in their respective high school state wrestling tournaments. Two won heavyweight state championships.
  • Collectively, they have earned 63 letters in high school across four sports

Wisconsin’s starting offensive line:
2 were WALK-ONS with ZERO #FBS OFFERS
2 were 0 star rated (247)
3 threw shot put over 57-feet
3 threw discus over 160-feet
4 were 3-sport HS athletes
All were HS multi-sport athletes
Here is a fun fact about Wisconsin, it's not fun.

The midwest is where we should be shooting all of our shots for o line. f**k these mentally soft south florida o line prospects. Most of those guys on wisconsin line are two star or lower. And they work as a unit year in and year out. Makes our line look like middle schoolers. We just need to land 2 each cycle and next thing you know in a few years you got an entire line of these dudes.

Didn’t sta have an oline LT dude that was a pretty good wrestler? Anyone know where he ended up at?

Nor surprised about the wrestling translation. I played optimist football for several years and wrestled in middle school. You learn a lot about leverage and balance. Some guys are naturally gifted with balance and strength and wrestling teaches how to use it. Endurance is also a byproduct of wrestling.

The oline play has been bad....

but the offensive play calling hasnt helped them out at all to cover them up.

Richt and Enos both wanted to imagine we had a powerful impose their will oline here... embarrassing to not make the adjustments needed

sure looks like fun being 6-0. and beating the brakes off of good teams. Id take it over being 3-3 and struggling against crap teams
First, we need an OLine COACH worth a ****. We have brought in high ranked OLine recruits who have languished at Miami. Big 10 kids (I am showing my age) like to stay in the big ten for the most part, but it is always worth a shot trying to get someone interested. Have you been to Madison ? If you blink you will miss it. You wanna know why those Midwest lines are big and nasty ?? You would be too if all you had to smell all day is cow ****.

Want to know what is even crazier than this? Even Whisky, the king of the underrated OL gems are trying to get away from this style of recruiting. This year they have 2 4 star OL signed. Last year than had 1 5 star OL and 1 4 star OL.

When even Chryst is trying to land blue chip OL, you know you need to land blue chips.

But is that Wisconsin dog as good as the south Florida dog
