FSU offered John Franklin today

lex, i think it's "shady" unless the kid truly has an offer come signing day. if not, it's shady. if the kid has an offer whether or not collins comes, its not shady.
if the kid commits today and then collins doesn't go to fsu and the kid ends up scrambling around for another school, it's shady and not right to the kid.

I guess this is part of the game.. I would be very careful if I was FSU.. Offering players schollys with strings can never be a good thing down the road. Lets say Collins ends up @ UM and Franklin tries to sign with FSU only to be told 'NO', you just burned a bridge at a certain school for awhile. They same thing happened to Mackenro and it just ended up as a awkward situation for everyone.

If Collins ends up a FSU, I hope was go hard at the columbus RB and Dice. I never want UM to be in the business of handing out ships to 'others' to get players in Coral Gables. It never ends well.. Jimbo's recruiting philosophy really makes me wonder what he has planned for FSU 6 years down the road.

This is a sure sign that the Noles are very concerned about their chances of landing Collins.

i'm not worried they get collins. they may, but, i'm not worried. kids usually end up going to school they dreamed of going to and playing for the school they've always wanted to play for, if given the opportunity.

This is one of the ugly sides of recruiting. Gotta feel bad for kids that get their chain yanked by slime ball coaches and recruiters. We all forget that these are 17 and 18 year old kids and pulling stuff like this is wrong on many levels. I hope high school coaches and players start recognizing that we don't play that game and have a great deal of respect for us for taking such a stance.

Yeah, unfortunately FSU will probably be just fine if they are shunned from South Plantation. It's not exactly a football factory

no, but, perhaps we'll see. and it won't be the 1st time or last time it will happen. w/out collins, how many ships does the kid truly have by whom? like someone else said, if they ***** the kid over, it's not like south plantation churns out 1A prospects.

just out of curiosity, does anyone know how serious Collins is about playing lacrosse at the college level?

I hate to say this, because I am a member of the Miami lacrosse team, but FSU will kick our *** 8 days out of a week in that category

Also, who's to say that Collins didn't "pull a Nkemdiche" with FSU and say "if you offer my homeboy, I'm in"?

Not saying that this happened, but surprising that nobody has even considered this as a possibility in this case.

Every year we see guys trying to get offers for their boys or family members. It goes with the territory.

I'm with you. I'm just saying, it's funny how one recruit is made to be a villain for this, while another (IF this is what has happened in the case of Collins/Franklin/FSU) is completely ignored by the narrative. Just find it to be interesting. And yes, it does happen every year.

Yep I am agreeing with you all the way.

Oh and we do it too so let's stop acting like FSU is the only one who offers somebody's boy to try to get a package deal.

jhall, i'm gonna disagree with you on this one. have we ever done it? probably, but, we don't do it as often as other schools.
and i'm not sure who we've done it with.

Well it depends what you believe. They don't just come out and say it.

Is it a coincidence that Armbrister is Bostwicks cousin? Dortch is Jayron Kearses cousin. Many people thought we offered Barton to help with Linder. The Northwestern crew, the Booker T guys etc. You don't think we make certain offers to help with others or are you basically talking about holding schollies for ransom? If that's what you mean then no I don't think we do that.

i disagree on most of those. the NW crew were all pretty much deserving. some a little less. perhaps it was just easier to offer all of the them and keep them together and happy and ensure they all were coming.
bostwick and armbrister? no. disagree.
booker T? no. disagree.
