FSU offered John Franklin today

And just because they offer, doesn't mean its a given either.

Right?

Doesn't even mean the offer is legit at this point. No offense to Problem2 (great poster) but let's let the dust settle here since it's an obvious attempt to secure Collins.

I don't know if i can take facing this kid for three years.

Honestly the more glaring issue for me is, if we do lose him, it really seems like we have no backup plan.

I know there's always behind the scenes action but we've basically said Collins or bust. I just dont think the staff is that stupid. Collins might decommit, he might waver, but in February I think he's a Cane.

let's see if he has papers on signing day if collins doesn't commit to them.

This. They do it all the time with these SoFla kids. I'm surprised it hasn't backfired on them more with the HS coaches around Miami.

It means nothing but I'm still not that worried with Collins

Let's go back to the main issue here: FSU is offering Franklin specifically to get Collins. Franklin is not a BCS level QB, but they're willing to eat the scholly to get Collins, who IS a BCS level player. And, if push come to shove, they can release Franklin after 1 year and keep Collins. It's really a brilliant move from that team from TallaNasty.

It's a Sabanesque type move, especially the possibility of dumping the kid after year 1. Would expect nothing less from one of his disciples.

1. Recruiting war is on.
2. Offer does not mean the offer is committable - there is a difference.
3. If I am Collins, I wait until NSD to see if they really mailed papers to Franklin.
4. This is a numbers game. Does UM use one of their remaining spots for Franklin and lose a target - FSU knows this.

They did this move with Mackenro Alexander and if failed. Trying to get Mackensie. It's a smart play by FSU, shows you how bad they truly want him.

It's the smart play, and one we can't afford to try with the coming sanctions and with this being a smaller class. FSU's recruited so well in the past 3-4 years, they can afford to take a flier on a guy that might only play special teams at best, in order to get a major playmaker on the roster along with him.

Once we get our roster right and get past sanctions, we can take some chances here and there like this again...only they won't be the Daniel Stegalls and Delmar Taylors of the world ("diamonds in the rough" from the Shannon era)...it will be more calculated moves like this one FSU's pulling.

stop.
as mike b always said and it's always been true, these things rarely work out this way. rarely.

Crazy thing is if Miami did it, we would get slammed and wouldn't be allowed back at said school. Schools like FSU come in and play these coaches and kids and its no big deal. A lot of people around here feel entitled when it comes to Miami.

If you're AG, how do you recruit Collins from here on out? Do you call jimbo out on his BS, or do you "take the high road."

It's true. And it's terribly sad

The funniest thing is, this is the only way FSU can get a top kid from SoFla cause they know Golden has this **** on lock

Manny can write all the fluff pices he wants, but the fact is short of pulling stunts like this or us simply not wanting a dude, they aren't getting the South Florida elites anymore. And this is with all the sanctions bull****.

I see you Jimbob.
