FSU Names their Booster AD 😅

BOTH Trailerhasse and Gainseville are ****HOLES. Miami meanwhile is a beautiful city, hot babes, billionaires and real wealth (not just a nice new trailer like those toothless dudes have up in there). People want to be here... Ask Pat Riley what he thinks of Miami.... We are getting the very best because we finally decided to throw money at the problem but the attraction to Miami is also that is well freaking Miami

I am proud to be from North Florida, but I wholeheartedly endorse this sentiment

Just a quick question….

If they were gonna use taxpayer money to renovate Doak then they really don’t own their stadium do they?

Yes. Yes they do.

And they also got Florida taxpayer money to renovate when they slapped bricks on the Ol' Erector Set about 20 years ago.

I mean, yeah, I think the taxpayers should take it back and sell it for parts...

The season happened exactly like it needed to happen. If Miami had totally fallen apart, finished under .500 and missed a bowl like the "rooting for losses" crowd had wanted, this job would have looked far less attractive to Cristobal. Oregon matches the offer and he stays in the Pacific NW. He wouldn't have left Eugene for a total dumpster fire in Miami. On the flip side, if we had won one more game, then Miami could have finished 9-4 with a bowl win, and I'm confident Diaz would have survived another year. The FSU loss saved UM football, but we all needed some wins sprinkled in there to finish over .500 so we looked like a team with a lot of potential that underperformed due to coaching.

So if the county taxpayers were slated to fund $20m of it, how much is needed total? Doesn't seem like a yuge figure, but rather part of a larger project.

The renovations that they are talking about now are not as substantial (as 20 years ago). What is outrageous about it is that a fair chunk of the overall budget (including the $20M) was going for "amenities" types of improvements, including to the suites and big-donor areas.

Because the school is a state school doesn’t the state own the land buildings etc???

OK, I get what you are saying now.

But there was also a prohibition put in (Florida STATE law) that said FL taxpayer funds could not go towards collegiate stadiums, which F$U conveniently circumvented by putting "offices" and "classrooms" into the Doak renovations about 20 years ago (maybe more?).

I guess I'm not 100% sure how the state views that whole arrangement. Ultimately, does the State of Florida own it? I think you are probably correct, but F$U is empowered to do a whole lot on its own as a "self-governing entity" so to speak. It's not like the FL Legislature has to approve everything.

Wait…they were using Leon county funds while we catch $#!t for reappropriating private medical profits? WTF?!
Sadly, I live here in Tally....

People were ****ED about them coming to the commission and begging for money when their Athletic Dept generates and clears $millions yearly....

Problem was, the City and County just gave FAMU nearly $10mil for the same purpose so they almost felt entitled....there was no blow back for FAMU (40 year old stadium, clearly investing their own money into school and infrastructure upgrades), but NO one was in favor of supporting this effort. Doak was renovated less than 5-6 years ago so this felt like a real money grab by the same individual they just hired as AD....man o man LOL

Don’t forget Kosi transferring. If he doesn’t, we don’t know about the superstar sitting on our bench and this job is a lot less attractive.
