That's precisely what I mean. I don't know this guy's background. What other systems has he been involved in?

Not familiar with his background.
Alabama, Georgia, & Wake Forest utilize a lot of single gapping in their 3-4 defenses. Not many teams play the double bubble 3-4 front anymore.
 
Actually met the guy. A friend of mines dad coaches with his dad in Rainsville, Al. I think he was the d coordinator at Hoover when they were on a roll. Supposedly, if Kirby Smart took the TN job he was going to bring Pruitt as his d coordinator. I always heard Saban never wanted to give him a raise and has been looking at another job opportunity.

We all know the problems that can cause
 
Pruitt is just a recruiter. FSU again is making a mistake by hiring based on recruiting ability rather than coaching ability. Their staff the last 3 years has been a bunch of top flight recruiters and Stoops. Thats why theyve had top tier classes and nothing to show for it. they get tons of five stars and then cant coach them up. Now that Stoops is gone, they are in trouble man..

Have to wait and see what kind of scheme this guy is going to run but it sounds like Jimbo just signed his walking papers. If this guy tries to change scheme after three years of Stoops recruiting for his 4-3 then Jimbo is toast IMO. We'll see...

Probably because Saban was doing most of the db coaching himself.

the guy is 3 years removed from high school...the only level he's ever called plays and only did it for like 2 yrs. his title at bama is db coach, the position that saban coaches. so what does he really do? this is an obvious downgrade.

I disagree, in part. Recruiting the elite is just that. Absolutely. But a program could make a living off of less-heralded recruits from FL.

It just takes solid recruiting, development, and coaching. Lacking at FSU on one front. The coaching.

I don't think any of the big 3 would be satisfied getting the less heralded recruits in the state. JMO.

A large majority of play calling a defense is based on philosophy. With that being said, if someone interviews, and his philosophy matches the vision of what the Head Coach wants out of his defense, then there you go. Heck Jimbo hired Stoops, and Pruitt.

Maybe this dudes defensive philosophy just closely matches Stoops scheme as well.

Football is about assignments and being able to teach a scheme, moreso than it's about a person's last name.
