Four-star transfer WR CJ Daniels commits to Miami

I think if we follow this up with an addition of Concepcion or Branch, we ought to all be excited. Especially if we added a top tier portal QB (Mateer first preference, of course).

Daniels alone is a good addition but there's question marks. I do think that regardless, we ought to be all-in on the Malachi Fields sweepstakes. He's a legit outside receiver that can win one on one...massive upgrade over Horton.

Guess CJ liked what he saw from Emory at practice.

The Miami Hurricanes added much needed size and experience to their WR room with the commitment of former Liberty and LSU standout CJ Daniels. The 6’2, 205-pound Atlanta native has compiled 148 catches for 2,434 yards (16.4 YPC) and 21 touchdown catches over his five-year college career.

Daniels exploded in 2023 at Liberty, putting up 1,097 yards and 10 TDs on an outstanding 19.4 yards per catch. He transferred to LSU, where he made 42 catches for 480 yards while battling a heel injury.

“He’s a great leader,” LSU coach Brian Kelly said. “And he’s been a glue guy for us in terms of consistency every single day playing through a more significant injury than maybe people realize. He’s had a pre-existing condition, a heel injury that is almost a dislocation, that I don’t know how he does it.”

“He practices, and we’re careful with his practice during the week to get him to Saturdays. And then on Saturdays, he’s just so consistent. Down the field blocking, he’s one of our best, if not our best, blocker. He’s precise with his route-running. He’s got strong hands at the point of attack.”

Isaiah Horton’s decision to enter the Portal created a huge need for a big-bodied, reliable receiver, which matches Daniels’s profile. He is a physical runner with 734 yards after contact, and he is also tough at the catch point (67% contested-catch percentage). His experience (2,257 career snaps) and winning background (46 career wins) will help a room with talented youngsters like JoJo Trader and Ny Carr.

Daniels chose Miami over Auburn and Ole Miss.

That was easy, now comes the Mario silence about injuries part, where it’s like pulling teeth to know if the kid will play…

Why is he leaving LSU - weren’t interested in bringing him back, concerned about injury or he wanted more than they were willing to pay? Have to wonder about 6th year senior wideouts.

Outside of QB, most important portal commit left on offense by far. ... Concepcion or Branch would be great pickups. But I am fine with Horton returning, Daniels joining and running with what we have on roster. We have Ray Ray, Kirk (presumably), and 6 guys from 24/25 to develop.
Did Ray Ray remove himself from portal? Last I saw Bobby is returning. Less I missed some Ray Ray news
