Former 'Canes...Where Are They Now?

Shawnbrey McNeil has to be the most successful transfer in recent history, maybe ever.

What happened to Jermaine McKenzie?

Did Steven Wesley do anything of note the year after radio pushed him out?

He went to go play at North Alabama for Terry Bowden. Was signed as a UDFA by the Jaguars...suffered a knee injury...cut...now resides in Parts Unknown.

Brandon Marti played for a small NAIA team for Missouri Valley College in Missouri, I got a friend that played with him.

No longer on the team there, too, I assume? Just checked their roster, and he's no where to be found. I do see he was with MoVal in 2011...nothing after that.

A lot of guys on that list were "Randy just gets it! Stars dont matter!" guys. Kevin Nelson, Davis, Kane, Odom, etc. Hopefully Dewey and Crow don't turn out like Cook and Cannon also.

2010 corner recruiting was stroke inducing. I thought Reid would be a player, we knew from the jump that Randy had no idea what he was doing otherwise. Davis was a reach and part of the Nelson package deal of the century. Payne gets the nod over teammate Cody Riggs because of his height. P-Buch's cousin had grade issues from the jump.

Hope Pimp is doing ok. He was a good player here.

I am curious if anyone can give a better update on Keion Payne.

IIRC, when he was dismissed from the team, he took it pretty hard. I'm wondering if he found a home...he's not with Hutchinson CC as far as I am aware. Hope the kid at least gets back on his feet and plays.

Holiy **** @ that 2010 list. Add Cain. We basically took a probation year there. Wow.

That 2010 class is a big part of why we are where we are.
Yep. And we are still relying on guys of the same caliber who didn't transfer (e.g., Kacy Rodgers). This is precisely why it is foolish to judge Golden until he has had a few years to bring in his own recruits. Look at how well guys like Gunter, Bush, Perryman, Jones, etc. are playing. Once we get rid of the dead weight we're going to be fine.

Still don't get it with these some of these guys. Is CFB that hard to get adjusted to?

Yes. Kids who have dominated everything their whole life, in many cases never had real coaching and never had to learn technique or understand scheme and how to watch film and work out are now placed in an environment with 85 kids just as naturally talented as they are, away from home for the first time, with the added pressure of school work they aren't prepared for like their other classmates and the distractions of college life.

As hard as it is to project what a 17 year old kid will look like physically at 20-22, its just as hard to project how he will react to sitting on the bench for the first time, how he will respond to coaching, or competition, or how he will react when hes frustrated and needs to do school work to catch up but everyone around him is drinking and doing drugs.

Evaluating how high school talent translates to the next level is half the battle. Evaluating how a high school person reacts to an environment where football is a job is just as difficult.
