Thought it'd be interesting to see what different people have in mind for what they'd like to see from our offense. I'll get things started:

I'd like to see the jumbo set, with 3 WRs and Duke in the single back.

Personnel:

OL:
Extra Lineman: Bunche
LT Flowers
LG Feliciano
C Mcdermott
RG Linder
RT Henderson

QB:
Morris

RB:
Duke

WRs:
Scott to Bunche's side
Dorsett in the slot to the wide side (opposite of Bunche) and going vertical/post
Coley outside of Dorsett (wide side) and working a combination route with Dorsett

Objective:

Max versatility. With Dorsett and someone like Coley opposite of of Bunche, the OLB and Safety to that side have to stay home. They'd likely need to play 3 on 2. That makes it 9 (including QB) vs 8 on the rest of the field. Because the jumbo set is to that side, there's likely very little help over the top of Scott. With his skillset, that means the Corner either plays off (and is eaten up for digs and comebacks) or risks the big play over the top. Scott and Coley can probably both play this spot. Most importantly, the jumbo set makes it 8 vs 7 in the middle of the field.

Inside and outside zone runs here leave Duke in one on one situations. That spells trouble for a defense, obviously. If we playaction from this set, you can max protect with 8, have the defense biting hard, and still have good match ups with the 3 eligible decisions.

What personnel groupings would some of you like to see?

Too much football talk Lu

but uh...

I'm anxious to see two TE alignments.

Love to see Sandland/Cleveland and Walford, with Dorsett and Hurns at WR. Duke in the backfield.

Very easily could use Sandland in some H-Back mismatches. Sandland could split out to the slot and Duke could motion out of the backfield to give an empty look.

I would like to see 3 safety sets on defense with like Bush and Jenkins at the normal safety spots with Carter playing a rover DB/LB hybrid position... in some instances.

Dorsett, Hurns, Waters bunched
Scott opposite side.

All three in bunch are good blockers, pull Feliciano and run a screen to Duke. Byeeeeeee.

Excellent thought except I've been thinking about Burns as that nickel guy by the end of the season. Oh my god.

The speed. The ball skills. The physicality between those three would be awesome.

3-4 front 7

DE Pierre
NT: Porter
DE: Chickillo/Robinson
OLB: McCord
ILB: Perryman
ILB: Kirby
OLB: Figueroa

Love the idea of the extra OL in college football. Could be a cure to our redzone woes.

What Lu said.

I'm a big fan of 1 back sets with this team.

We should look a lot like USC 2005 on offense.

I like this concept and think we're going to have to find a versatile guy who can cover a bit in Nickel, but also be successful blitzing. It's a shame the guys I think of who'll be best at that role are probably all too young (Burns, Grace and Carter) or needed for Safety range (Bush).

I think we'll see a good amount of 5 rushing the passer, 3 underneath, and 3 over this season. There are a lot of variations on how to get there.

TE: Walford
TE: Sandland
FB: Hagens
RB: Duke
QB: Morris

Objective: running the ball down their fuggin throats or PA to the TEs

From your keyboard to Coley's playbook. I'd drop a TE and add an OL. I'd run behind Flowers and Feliciano and tell the defense we're doing it. I'm a fan of Hagens and have predicted he'll get about 40-45 touches this season, score 5 TDs and pick up 10-15 first downs.

I just wanna see Mo play some ****** H-back and fly through the line and plant some LB while Duke squirts to the out side and rips off a big gain

Offensively, I would love to see some Dennis Erickson ace formation sets along with power Joe Gibbs double tightend formations mixed with some traditional Miami I-forms.

Defensively, as a change up, the 3-3-5 stack.

12 with Beau/Warlord, Herb/Dorsett outside and Hagens in the backfield. When Duke needs a rest, have Hagens as the single back for straight ahead runs and pass blocking, Herb/Dorsett for deeper/play action routes, athletic TEs for crossing stuff. Waters/Beau going deep with a Dorsett crossing pattern off a play action.

If we're going one-back I'd like to see Gus Edwards be the ball carrier.

It has the potential to be a good thread when this dude shows up. Thanks. If you have the time, would like to read why on each from you.

Swag. They'll be unstoppable assuming Lewis is healthy. If not just sub in Hurns or Rayshawn and that will still, undoubtedly, get the job done.

I also think Jontavious Carter will get some serious burn this year. Over 5 TD's is my prediction.

The strength of the UM offense is the upfront troops. Depth-wise, the receiving unit on paper is as deep as I can remember seeing at UM, so it would make sense that they become the focal point offensively. Here is where coach Coley can create match up problems and dictate coverages, which also helps SMorris get a better feel in both pre-snap and post snap reads.

The ace formation is often referred to as an inflated scheme between the twenties. It's difficult to contain between the twenties, particularly if the offense has an outstanding duo at tightend and slot receiver. They set the tempo and are chain movers. To be honest, I'm not sure we have a "player" at tightend in the traditional Miami mode unless BSandland emerges as that type. Still, though, I think SColey could be an absolute monster at the slot position. This kid working against a nickle back, linebacker or safety would be murder. With Dorsett's speed on the outside, Coley would become the vital cog in a machine that could be as explosive any UM offense in recent memory. When factoring in DJohnson's explosiveness and game-changing ability, the possibilities of this type of offensive structure are mind-boggling. Everything being led of course by Kehoe's big boys upfront.

Power football. The Joe Gibbs approach. Balancing out those eight man fronts UM will likely face in an attempt to pressure Morris in the passing game and stuff Johnson and the ground game. To counter the pressure looks and loaded defensive fronts, UM has enough depth at tightend to be physical at the point of attack. In the running game, the counter tre becomes a viable option again, particularly when motioning one of the tightends. In the passing game against an upfront scheme there is instant help for the offensive tackles. This would give Morris time to look deep downfield for those post/dig combination routes. Again, factoring in DJohnson releasing into space after checking blocking assignment is a mismatch.

The traditional Miami I formations would be used within the twenties and on short yardage situations. I personally like I-form twins because of the coverage it dictates. In addition, playaction to the strong side is where I would prefer to attack, the spider concepts.

This offensive structure provides balance while creating mismatches. It also gives you the ability to play power and finesse football at the point of attack.

I'll get to the 3-3-5 defense later.

Id love for us the really open the field up and give Duke some huge running lanes (I'm assuming opposing DCs would run nickel with this formation).. Also, I think Dorsett could 'house' a couple end arounds once teams start keying in on Duke... We finally have an experienced, fast offence we're use to having at UM. Let's turn games into a **** track meet.
