Forecast for Chicago this weekend

Dude, this is going to be one **** of a cold game! Easily the coldest weather most of these kids have ever seen. If it is that cold and overcast, then these boys are going to be mentally tested by the weather alone. I am honestly more concerned about this weather than anything else but Te'o. I am worried they wont react well, and honestly that has nothing to do with our coach, unless you think he should practice in a giant refrigerator.

I understand what you are saying, but I disagree. If you build in toughness into the players, they should be able to take the cold. Mid to high 30s is cold, but it's not that cold that the players shouldn't be able to play. Unlike hot weather where it is more of a conditioning thing, cold weather is more pain tolerance.

Mid 30's is not even remotely cold. WTF is all this ****?!? I play in less than that often in the winter here in VA and as long as you are running around, your body will stay warm.

NoVa, I am with you, I live in DC and mid 30s really isnt that cold, but if you spent your entire life in South Florida, it certainly could seem cold. Either way, it shouldn't be more than a distraction when you first get out on the field. Once they have warmed up, they should be fine. As you and other posters pointed out, it's not really cold enough that it should have any effect on their game as long as Golden has built in the mental toughness.

I'm with you. This talk about upper 30s to mid 40s adversely affecting our play is insane. All mid 40s guarantees is that nobody will get tired. Those are great football temps.

Mid 40s is just not that cold when playing sports. We will have heaters and bikes on the sidelines. Our receivers wear gloves. Stadiums are rarely as cold as the surrounding temperature (down on the field at least, where they put the Miami fans is going to be a bit chilly if it is windy). There are so many other things to worry about in this game it is a non-factor. When it drops below freezing is when the ball turns into a rock and every tackle hurts.

You've clearly never been to Soldier Field. I live in Chicago and the closer you get to the lake the colder it gets... and guess what??? The stadium is on the mother f***in lake!

Now that said, 40 degree weather wouldn't really be an issue except for the fact that it's in Chicago, on the lake and what does that mean? Wind... and lots of it. Unfortunately, this is ND's type of weather, which gives them the upper hand. Can we win? **** yea... we just gotta be tough and not let the weather bother us. Would be a nice departure from teams in the past and another sign of leaving the mess of Shancoker behind....

Would concern me in December not October. I thought the new renovation took the wind off of the field a little bit, affecting the kicking game and those of us who have to stand in one spot for three hours, not players who are moving.

Renovation definitely helped, but it can still get extremely windy down on the field. Just saw this quote from Golden:

Golden said he hopes his team isn't thinking about using heaters Saturday in Chicago, should be tougher than that #UM

3 ******* pages on the weather. Are you kidding me? There's a good portion of this "fan" base that's as soft as Charmin. Do you know when the low temperatures happen?? 5-7 in the morning. Stop spewing lows like that's what this team will play in!!

And even if it did who gives a ****?!! As much as Al has gotten buried for making excuses by some, our "fans" define the term!!

I think a lot of you underestimate the change in climate. Yeah 40 isn't that cold, but when I have freinds out from Kansas to Colorado in the summer and they haven't had any weather even at night lower than 85 and they come out and sit on my back deck and it hits 65 then they are freezing, and thats the summer.

just like if you have a sunny day in the winter and it gets up to 45, then you can go out in shorts and a tee shirt b/c you have been used to 20 degree weather.

I predict that our players and fans from S. Florida are going to be freezing once the sun goes down. It is going to be cold and windy. It is going to seem coulder than if we played a month later and the high was 40 but we were playing a day game in the sun.

I predict we have the cold stuff under the jerseys if not at the start then at halftime, and we have players in coats and around heaters IF the temp is in the 40's. Its going to be a 35 to 40 degree temp swing from what most of these kids are either used to or have even experienced.

how about we make a bet then. If our players are wearing cold weather gear and using heaters on Saturday you will eat 5 more ****s this month than your normal 20, and if not you will eat 5 less ****s this month. We got a deal ****eater?

More worried about the predicted wind than the cold. Could affect Morris' long ball, which is our best chance against ND's defense. 30's/40's don't feel that cold when you're exercising.

Have you missed the last couple of games when it was cold? I think it's ridiculous too, but there is no denying that this team acted like a bunch of little girls that last couple of times they played in the cold; and by cold I mean 40s b/c apparently that is cold to them. I think it's a legitimate concern for our fanbase to be worried about how this team will respond given the past. Do I think high 30s and 40s should affect them? No, but I have seen it do it to them in the past. Hopefully Golden fixes that ****.

Lets not forget that although ND won't be as affected - they will be affected too. Its been unusually warm so far this year and this is the first cold snap of the season.

Unfortunately for us - its set to happen just in time for the game but - it still will seem like a shock to the system to ALL the players on the field.

I wish we didn't have to worry about this but I agree with Shogungts - our teams of late have been hampered by the cold. sux but it is what it is.

GO CANES

Oline said they are looking forward to it. No sleeves, 2 acres and a ball. Big man's dream.
