First Game of 2013--Who are the Starters?

i'd like to see one beast JUCO DT in the mix...

If we do haul in a beast Juco DT I'd like to see him shirt and get the playbook down year 1. These young DT's on the roster should be ready to go next year. Hopefully Porter can stay healthy and bust out next year.

lmao at a beast JUCO DT coming here to 'shirt. think about that.

- Don't know what leads some of you to think Robinson is going to play over Pierre. At this point next year, Pierre might be our best DLineman.
- I think Flowers plays LT
- I think Kirby is our surefire MLB
- I think AJL becomes an impact player by mid-season
- I think we need to find a ******* Running Back (if Collins doesn't revert)

I don't know why ppl are so concerned about the running backs. We have Crawford and Clements. Also, my boy Malcolm will lock a starting job next year. Book it

Crawford changed positions so I will cut him some slack for now, but Clements has barely done anything this year even when given the opportunity with Duke hurting during the middle of the year. I hope I am wrong, but I don't see him making much of an impact at Miami.

I hope Seantrel doesn't leave. I think he needs another year if he wants to get picked high. Also, if he stays, I'd like to see Bunche work the offseason at guard. I don't see him as a Tackle in the NFL so he might as well get more work there. I think Bunch next to Flowers or Seantrel, all with another year in UTough, could be the maulers they're supposed to have been in the run game.

Pierre has come up as of late, but Robinson has been showing flashes all year. In fact, he's been our best DL in a few games.

If he is consistent on and off the field, I think he can start over Pierre.

Still not buying into the AJL hype. His reputation is becoming Bunyan-esque. Those make me nervous.

You can laugh your *** off all you want to but until Miami gets back to shirting Freshmen and Juco DT's we'll never have a dominate D-line. Also not so sure why you think the DT's currently on the roster aren't going to develop this offseason. Porter and Pierre is going to be a solid 1st string. Then you have Robinson, Moore, Ivery, Briscoe, Grimble, and King who will be competing for the second string? DT isn't going to be an issue next season. Bring in a stud Juco, shirt him and get him ready for two solid years of contribution.

Why would you redshirt a JUCO if he is healthy? That defeats the whole purpose of JUCOs.

We used to Shirt JUCO's all the time. Just because they're JUCO doesn't mean they've been in a real strength and conditioning program and they also have to learn the playbook. Thinking someone is going to come in and unseat the DT's we have now is wishful thinking. Smith came in and started and was nothing special and he's already been benched by the up and comers.

I think Robinson's *looked* like our best DLineman in some games because he shoots gaps (one-gap, freelance) when he's apparently told to play 2-gap and control the line. There's a reason he's been benched when he "looks" good.

AJL hype is based on what I saw in HS. We shall see when he steps foot on campus and when the lights turn on.

But, you did say "beast JUCO DT". Beast JUCO players are in very high demand. Golden made the point on WQAM that those kinds of JUCO players don't go to a program to sit. They come to play right away.

Golden: "Hello, Mr BEAST JUCO DT. I would like for you to come and play for us! Buuuuuuuuut not this coming year, I want you to redshirt. So what do you say!?!?!"

Darius Smith was a desperation move because we had no one else.

Comparing him to a "beast JUCO" (ie Hooks) is silly. Those type of players aren't coming in to redshirt.
