OR maybe people could be logical enough to realize schematically we could very well see improvement with the exact talent we already have in the room. Not saying necessarily that we will. But as y'all have said over and over gattis was a part of the problem last year. So replacing one of the problems should imply improvement. Some of the people in the wr room, (especially considering there's already new talent in the room)should see serious improvement not only cause of the scheme but cause it's another year of game experience as well. Can't realistically expect every kid to come from high school or other schemes and instantly give peak impact. Let's see what changes coaching can make when it's given a significant opportunity.
Brudda man here going crazy about the portal. Im antsy to see what we can get out of who we already have. Dawson was working with 3 stars and underrated players and he got them to put up yards and points. I wanna see what he can do with who we brought in. Same for Guidry. No portal players are gonna fix it. The teams that people think kill the portal like FSU happen because the players they already had performed like Travis.

Gattis gone and 2 NFL OL should bring some improvement. In the chain of blame for our offensive woes, WR for me, was last.
1) Decimated OL
2) Bum Gattis
3) TVD
4) WR.

Idk if you agree but the WR room isn’t perceived so poorly in Coral Gables like it is in CIS. To your point, kids are benefiting from the scheme but have also improved since last fall. Hence, why we aren’t taking so many kids in portal for that position outside of 1-2.

Young is on the verge to blow the **** up.
Young need some competition to blow up. Got it too easy right now. JMO

I don’t disagree. Those dudes who regurgitate and vomit that are annoying and I don’t consider them relevant as posters because they don’t even try to be objective and fair. They just tear down.

There’s a lot to be happy about. I can survive without the WR and QB targets I’d love right now because as I’ve said, in short, look at the trenches. We can build it solid this way and get those pieces as the final part. @Ricaneswag has been saying it forever.
It's almost crazy that through all these rebuilds no one sees a difference between this one and others. U would think fans just joined the board when he got hired and haven't been a part of all the other staffs.

So much talk about our talent level. Idk bout yall but I think our starters are actually pretty legit. Definitely top 2-3 in ACC level at minimum. If we land these portal guys we have a chance to be really great, regardless how last season turned out
I definitely don’t think our starting talent is as bad as people think but injuries happen during season and we can’t fall off a Cliff when we get a couple.

This thread is a doozy.

This year’s portal recruiting is yet another lesson on the perception/reality dynamic.

These types of broad stroke shots at the Board get old. WR recruiting is what it is. No one was coming here as a destination in the spring portal like Lee and Cohen in the Winter portal. Movement otherwise has been slow. Ok. All but one person seems happy with this list for the weekend. 💁🏻‍♂️

There isn’t any significant semblance of posters on here saying Mario’s doing “nothing” yet guys come on here and post shots like that at the Board. It’s tiring. It’s what Bully Slurpers do to set up attacks on people with critical opinions of staff on the way some things are being done going forward.
No, but they are constantly on here taking pot shots because the timing is not to their own personal liking. Most of what you are stating is personal opinion which you are certainly entitled to do so.

Here is a fact. The portal has been given us 4 quality starters: Davonte Brown, Francisco Mauigoa, Javon Cohen and Matt Lee. I think we can all agree on that one.

Here is opinion. Cam McCormick gives you a quality inline tight end especially when we want or need to run the ball. Quite frankly at worst we are getting a quality special teams player in Terry Porter. We will see if he fully recovers this fall and gives us some help in the secondary. We will know what we have in Branson Deen when he is ready to go in the fall.

You want to argue our first spring commitment, Jaden Davis, is pedestrian which is fair, but you are getting a kid who has played in 47 games and started 22. At worst he improves the room if he brings a good attitude and work effort.

My personal opinion is let's see how this all ends up before we declare victory or defeat in the portal.
