Few things from this weekend

Who will be next to commit ?

Brian Edwards
Wonder how many cbs we take
My guess is 3 or 4... Edwards (who due to his size will most likely play S at the next level), Brini, Henderson & I guess Bandy could get flipped.
Idk about Marco Wilson & Shawn Davis, there's no way we'll land all of them. And unfortunately for him, Nick Roberts will be dropped from this class as we get closer to NSD.
I'm curious to know how taking 4 CB's for 2017 will affect our #Storm18 class, with the Elite level CB's we could end up with.

Everyone keeps saying Nick will be dropped; Richt already said he's not dropping anyone who pledged to the U. Also, I assume Nick's ratings will be going up soon. Nick is super talented and is a str8 pit bull. He's a perfect slot guy.

1) Every high school coach I spoke to who was involved in the Richt camp the last few days raved about how well it was run. They loved the focus and attention of the coaches because they made sure to only have 8-12 schools per day. HS coaches respected that because it started and ended on time and gave Canes coaches the time to interact. Coaches that I talked to said they wished other schools used this format because it was much more under control compared to other places.

2) N'Kosi Perry was at camp yesterday and you can tell how much this staff likes him. Richt was LOCKED on every one of his games. His team was playing during the media session and Richt even positioned himself so that he could watch him during the interview, which I thought was funny. Perry's arm talent is very impressive in person. It's obviously difficult to get a great read on his complete game without pads on, but you can tell he is a gamer. Made some really nice throws on the run and gets nice zip on his throws. Anticipation and footwork aren't perfect yet, but he will be coming into a perfect situation to progress and learn.

3) Couple notes on Columbus kids I heard yesterday - Expect Josh Jobe to play this season at Columbus and then go off to a prep school for his senior year. As I mentioned, this will be his last season playing HS football due to his age. I've been told by people close to him that it's extremely unlikely he would be able to reclassify, so this is the best next option for him. Prep would be good for him because it would ensure his grades are in order before he signs.

4) Also, people at Columbus increasingly believe that Bandy will end up at Miami and flip from Oklahoma. Again, this could take some time, but Miami is doing a tremendous job explaining themselves here and the stage of Bandy being "offended" or whatever you would like to call it have passed. His unofficial visit with CJ Henderson last week was a major positive.

Yea, yes,yeeeees. All good news!

I don't think he would come out and say he's dropping kids, and Nick committed to Golden not Richt.

We can't take 5-6 CB's in one class, so by simple mathematics Nick will have to be dropped if better higher caliber DB's end up committing to Miami between now & NSD.

I think it would have a huge effect on 2018. We need to bring in class after class in all positions...but the reality from a parent perspective is pulling in a big class at a particular position could have a negative effect on the recruits at that position in the following class ...

He want have to drop him...If Nick continues to get the love from everyone else...and none from UM...then he flips... a recruiring jedi mind trick... I want Nick at UM bad... he has skills that can't be taught...but i think he ends up elsewhere

It's a delicate balancing act. I'm thankful we have a true pro running the show and making these types of decisions.

Respectfully disagree with you, Mr Quarterman. It will certainly impact some recruits, no doubt. But others may want to prove to themselves they are as good or better than the best and still come. Plus some just want to be at the U, especially if it's winning with a winning coach, especially local kids. I think Duke Johnson comes to Miami even if Portis, Gore, McGahee are all on the team. It's just the nature of that kid. Finally, a lot of kids, even the most elite, just aren't at their peak going into college and need a year or two to develop before producing at a high level on a BCS team. Chad Thomas and AQM are good examples of that. They might come to get the chance to study under a great coach like Kool and practice against future 1st rounders. So yes, we will lose some. But we should gain others. Overall, I think quality can be maintained year in, year out.

If he has the talent you say figiee
The coach could find a spot for him even if it's not cbs . We need safeties and slots too . We need more athletes and who is to say once he gets to Miami that he isn't the best one we took .

I agree with you however we got left with lot of top dbs over the years . I think some of the upper clam man will leave if they get beat out . I say we take 3 to 4 this class and 3 next class

I think you both are making valid statements but the biggest key is winning. A south Florida kid will stay home to compete for a position on a National Championship caliber team. Growing up in Dade, I believe most of us wanted to get out of Miami because it gave you the sense of I made it. When I was coming out of High School I would have stayed only if the opportunity to play for UM presented itself. I came out in 97 and UM could get anybody they wanted back then. I truly believe this coaching staff is on the right path to achieving this tall task and now all they have to do is showcase it on the field. If anyone here grew up in the heart of Miami then I believe they can agree with what I'm saying. This is just my opinion though!!!

Agree.. winning trumps all...and some kids want to be a hurricane... some will not be afraid to compete and some are so arrogant that they are better than what anyone else has to offer...then transfer after their FR seanson..not saying any names but we are watching that unfold...but as a parent if you send your child to a school with 4 all americans in the class before...you have to have a brazillion thoughts to cross your mind

Who will be next to commit ?

I say Latavious Brini

I hope so that would be great; wonder how many dbs we wild take than . If he does I think some get scratched off . If Davis and Wilson want a spot they better jump on board soon . If we land Brini , Henderson , Bandy not many more spots for Cbs

the only true corners we take are Henderson, Bandy, and Wilson (if he commits), Roberts (if he doesn't flip)..everyone else is cb/s (Brini, Davis, Edwards)..so if we take 5-6 DBs, im cool with it... just get rid of the dead weight on the team

Im sure Richt is running great camps, but we heard the same effusive praise about Folden's camps and his organizational skills when he first took over.

We gotta get some of these monsters on board. We need the Jeudys and Leatherwoods and Bandys and Parks and some of those hosses to really get this thing flipped.

Jesus H Christ what a difference from Golden and his merry band of bumbling fools.

At the same time though EVERYONE raved about the Golden camps...Quotes all over every website from SoFla HS coaches everywhere his 1st couple years at UM with the camps.

I think Bandy flips anytime. If we win we have a bigtime shot with Jeudy. Agree we need to start getting those other guys though. Leatherwood and Donaldson at T would give us a completely revamped OL and potential bookend tackles for the next 3 years.

Alabama, Ohio State and FSU seem to do a good job managing to keep flooding in 4 and 5 stars everywhere on the field. Miami had no problem doing it when we were rolling.

Win, and we'll be in the driver's seat. Lose, and who cares anyway? Recruiting only matters if you can do something with the players and get results.

Exactly. All of these kids talk about how Miami can be if they keep the talent at home in interviews. They shouldn't be scared if other top guys start staying and the team is dominating on the field.
